Wigan Athletic played host to Manchester City at the DW Stadium, as Wigan hoped to be able to get something out of the game.
However, City weren’t going to let their opponents just walk all over them, since they knew that only three points would keep them on the heels of Manchester United, who were currently on top of the Premier League table.
The match kicked off at a rather slow pace, with neither side really managing to get a go at each other’s goal.
Wigan went on to create a half chance on the 17th minute mark, but with Beausejour failing to get any real power behind his shot, his effort was easily blocked by the City defensive line, leaving their goal threat free.
The home side then went on to create an actual goal scoring opportunity for themselves in the 34th minute, as Kone had a golden opportunity to score for Wigan.
Stam went on to beat Zabaleta and bend in a brilliant cross into a dangerous area. However, Kone failed to convert with his head, as his headed effort went on to sail over the bar.
In the second half City changed things around, and this is when things really picked up for the team.
In the 70th minute, the Manchester based club finally managed to score the opening goal of the game, as Balotelli went on to find the back of the net.
The Italian striker went on to gather a rebounded shot, as he simply sent his effort past Al-Habsi, who managed to save the initial shot from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423, but couldn’t do much about the Italian’s follow up shot.
Then http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-Milner-c17706 went on to score City’s second goal, as he ended the game as a contest.
The second half substitute went on to take a pop at goal from distance, as his effort went on to crash into the back of the net. Silva played a pass to Barry, who went on to find Milner, before the midfielder pulled the trigger to score that brilliant goal.
Thanks to the goals from Balotelli and Milner, City went on to win the game by two goals to nil, which saw the team pick up all three points from the game.
