Wigan Athletic played host to Arsenal, who were looking to pick their form up, following a series of poor results.
The Gunners did manage to beat QPR this past Monday, but that didn’t seem to be convincing enough for the fans.
The team’s fans wanted the team to continue with their winning streak, and they were hoping for them to produce a positive result against Wigan.
The match started with Arsenal coming close early on in the game, with Oxlade-Chamberlain’s effort on goal being kept out by Al-Habsi in just the 9th minute of the game.
Wigan then had a chance to take the lead in the 24th minute via Kone, but the striker failed to put his effort on target.
Following those two brilliant chances, neither side managed to create any more opportunities in the first half and the game went into the break at nil all.
The second half kicked off in Arsenal’s favour as they looked to score early on. However, once again Al-Habsi proved to be the saviour for Wigan.
Nonetheless, the Gunners were handed a life line in the 59th minute as Walcott was taken out in the box by Beausejour. The referee was left with no choice but to award the Gunners with a penalty.
Arteta stepped up take the spot kick and went on to covert with ease, after he sent Al-Habsi the wrong way.
Following that goal, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 looked to contain Wigan, who were looking to try and get a goal back.
The Gunners hung on for their lives until the dying stages of the game, but following some good defending in the last couple of minutes, they were able to see the game out with the North London club claiming all three points from it.
