Premier League - Milan Jovanovic to boost Anfield line-up with a 3 year contract signing

It seemed like Liverpool will not be signing in players this season due to their worsening financial debts. The reason if fact that Rafael Bentiez left the club was that even after promises the Spanish coach was offered merely 5 million pounds for rebuilding the squad. Now after signing Milan Jovanovic, the star from Serbia, hopes for the club are rising.

Early in the days before the signing of Roy Hodgson, Rafael Benitez’s stay was in doubt with players requesting his removal after a turbulent season that lead the team that had nearly acquired the English Premier League title to a team that came 7th and was humiliated by novices.

Chairman Martin Broughton and owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett had promised the Italian coach that he would be provided enough funds so that he can refurbish his squad but the situation got out of hand when it was revealed that the club was in debt of more than 350 million pounds. With pressure mounting and an exceptional job offering at Inter Milan that opened because José Mourinho transferred to Real Madrid, Benitez took the offer and went to Milan.

This lead to the appointment of Kenny Dalglish to come up with the new manager of Liverpool and though he was against Roy Hodgson, as he said that he preferred himself for the job he eventually had to give in as “Roy of Reds” became the slogan.

Still he and Hodgson have to coordinate on a major level as Dalglish is responsible of the Liverpool academy and the Reds are hoping to introduce new players into the team this season. Though the Liverpool legend earlier stated that he would quit if Hodgson’s contract was finalized he did not after the duo had a little chat. Hodgson on the other hand is now wary of one of his best friends Sir Alex Ferguson. As Liverpool and Manchester United are arch enemies of each other similar to David and Goliath, Hodgson hopes that the friendship will not come in between the battles of the Reds and the Red Devils.

Matters at Anfield finally look to change with the 3 year deal of Jovanovic. The free transfer move has been completed and the Serbian star who played extremely well for the Serbs at the FIFA 2010 World Cup told that he was happy from the signing. Though Serbia did not progress from the Group stage which was extremely unexpected, the left winger played extremely well.

The 29 year old Jovanovic became a free agent this summer when he did not pursue his contract with Standard Liege. Sources have revealed that the star was on the hunt much before than this but as Rafael Benitez was about to be snatch up the star for Inter Milan the Reds had to do.

Jovanovic has played for 4 years in Belgium, 4 years that he has been on top there and has proved himself as a thriving example. He received Footballer of the Year award in 2008 and landed up with the Golden Shoe in 2009. Jovanovic has stated that he knows the game play at English Premier League is very different and he is optimistic that he will be up for the challenge.

While speaking to media Jovanovic stated, "It is an honour for me to sign for one of the biggest clubs in football”. He also expressed that he knew he was about to play with the biggest names of football. He stated that he knew the club was in trouble and some of the major players will depart but he had his earnest passion for the club and hoped that the matters will be resolved in everybody’s interest.

He further added, “I cannot wait to start working with the manager and I'm looking forward to joining up with my new team-mates on our Swiss training camp”.
