Premier League News - 07th Oct 2010: Fulham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United
FULHAM
Fulham's midfielder, Dickson Etuhu has extended his support for the anti-racism "Kick-It-Out Campaign" by giving his name as its Official Ambassador. The player did so on Wednesday when he gave his views regarding the promotion of equality through football
and how the game can help develop the community over all.
"A lot of good work has been carried out through the Kick-It-Out Campaign. It's a fantastic initiative and shows what can be achieved through football. This game is a world sport and everywhere you go people play football. Whatever race, you can get involved
and have fun through football. You can see the difference the campaign has made because gradually the problem of racism has been limited. It's still out there, but it's nowhere near as bad as it once was and that's because of the initiatives like this one.
For the first time, people have thought: it's okay to be black and play football, it's okay to be Asian and play football and it's okay to be white and play football. I'm a big supporter of the Kick-It-Out Campaign and I'm more than happy to help in any way
that I can.", stated the Fulham player.
The 28-year-old Nigerian himself was once part of a racial abuse incident while playing for Preston North End back in 2002, which forced him to move away from the club.
LIVERPOOL
Former Juventus midfielder, Christian Poulsen has expressed his views regarding the situation at Anfield, claiming that the club is in a real “crisis”. For the first time in as many as 54 years, Liverpool find themselves in the relegation zone and had lost
their third match of the season to Blackpool.
They have managed just one victory so far this season in a total of 7 fixtures. Liverpool currently have only 6 points. The 30-year-old midfielder stated that he would agree to the talks regarding the club’s crisis situation which has erupted after their
defeat to Blackpool this weekend.
MANCHESTER CITY
Manchester City's manager, Roberto Mancini is hopeful of having the star striker, Mario Balotelli back in the ranks in time for Arsenal fixture in the Premier League. The 24 million pound Italian had picked up a knee injury while making his debut for the
Manchester City in the Europa league and has been ruled out until November.
However, with Arsenal’s fixture coming up on 24th October, Mancini expects the former Inter Milan star to be in the ranks and help his side pull a victory over the North London club. The manager stated that the time is right for the player to
be back as he has been doing extremely well on his road to recovery.
The Italian pointed out that the recovery rate varies from player to player but he hoped that Balotelli is one of those players who come back early. The manager added that Balotelli has to undergo various tests on his knee on Friday and Monday.
MANCHESTER UNITED
Manchester United's manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that he may well have to call back Tom Cleverley to the club. Cleverley is currently on a season long loan at Wigan Athletic but the Red Devils' manager now believes that the time is right for the
player to be back and fight for his spot in the crowded Manchester United side.
While talking to a local magazine, Ferguson said that he would want Tom to be back in winter and he expected great things from the 21 year old midfielder. Ferguson explained his decision claiming that Cleverley would be the next big thing coming of the Red
Devils' ranks.
