Premier League News-8th Oct 2010: Newcastle United, Stoke City, Sunderland
NEWCASTLE UNITED:
The Argentinean International, Jonas Gutinerrez has announced his support for Kick It Out's "One Game, One Community" campaign, scheduled to start next week.
“From 14th to 26th October 2010, professional football will join up with the grassroots game and schools and community groups across the country to celebrate equality and inclusion, both within football and the wider society", read a statement posted on Kick it Out's official website.
It added, "Players across all four divisions will be taking to the field in the iconic One Game, One Community t-shirts over the next few weeks to show support for the campaign and the work that football is doing to promote equality and diversity. This support will also be replicated by the England men's and women's teams."
Gutinerrez scored an impressive goal against Manchester City last weekend but still that didn’t prove to be the winning one.
STOKE CITY:
Stoke City's defender, Danny Collins believes that if the club keeps on performing like this, it would be matter of time before the club claims a trophy. Stoke have managed to establish themselves in the top flight for the past three seasons and they also finished in the top ten twice.
Now, the Potters are looking for Silverware and Collins, who joined the club last season, is extremely delighted by the way things are being done at the club. The 30-year-old stated that Tony Pullis is putting together a good team and there may be issues for some players owing to the opportunities.
Collins maintained that the side has spent two successful seasons in the Premier League and it now looks to finish in the top ten. Stoke is in top form this season, having able to manage 10 points in 7 fixtures. They are currently on the 7th spot and if they keep this up, they can easily finish in the top half of the table.
SUNDERLAND:
The Sunderland player, Lee Cattermole expects his form to get better as the season progresses. The 22-year-old has played only 13 complete matches out of a total of 25, owing to his disciplinary and injury issues.
Cattermole is the only Premier League player currently to have received two Red Cards so far in the season and he looks to improve on that front. Cattermole was present in Black Cats' clash against Manchester United and looks to be on track to his best form. The player aims to find a good patch and claimed that he never doubted his ability and talent, because a few bad performances can never make you a bad player.
Cattermole believes that all he needs to do is to keep working hard, play matches and get the experience needed to be on his top. The player argued that owing to his inability of not finishing the entire 90 minutes of a match, his form has suffered and that is the reason behind his sending off. However, he praised the manager Steve Bruce and thinks that the side has the potential to challenge any team.
Lee Cattermole plays as a holding midfielder and is known for his rash tackles. In total, the player has earned 5 Red Cards and 44 yellow cards in his not so big career, which clearly points towards a possible disciplinary issue.
