Premier League News- 8th September (Part 2)
(Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea)
Blackpool
Blackpool’s manager, Ian Holloway has said that it was very hard for him to sign the club’s first 1 million pound player. The newly promoted club signed DJ Campbell, who is expected to make his Premier League debut against Newcastle on Saturday.
Campbell joined Blackpool from Leicester on the transfer deadline day. The manager however was more concerned that the player might never have joined the club due to Holloway’s nightmare time with Leicester in 2008. Under Holloway, Leicester was relegated and the manager thought that Campbell would never have wanted to join a club managed by him.
"I probably had more sleepless nights over the last week or so of the transfer window than I've ever had in football; I had a lump on my lip like a golf ball. It was a cold sore and I get them when I am stressed and tired out. But that's all down to DJ. I've wanted him so badly and I'd been putting so much energy into trying to get him.” claimed the manager.
Bolton Wanderers
With Bolton player Gary Cahill making his much awaited England National side debut, team mate Zat Knight expressed his happiness for the player. Cahill used to feature regularly in the bench line up but had to wait for the EURO 2012 qualifying match with Bulgaria to make his much awaited debut for the Three Lions.
Knight claimed that he knew exactly how the player might have felt, having featured for England against USA and Colombia half a decade ago. In a website interview, the player said that he is extremely proud of Cahill as the player actually deserved the cap. Knight added that he’s not saying this because he is his friend but because he actually deserved the spot.
Chelsea
Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti is adamant that club captain John Terry and Frank Lampard would be fit in time for their Premier League clash against West Ham Untied. Both these players couldn’t feature in England’s opening Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland owing to injuries.
Terry pulled out of the international due to a hamstring injury while midfielder Frank Lampard had to undergo a Hernia surgery. Both these players were part of the Chelsea squad in their 2-0 win against Stoke. Reportedly both Terry and Lampard have recovered fairly quickly and are likely to feature in their next Premier League clash.
Lampard’s condition would still be assessed before the match. While talking to media, the manager said that Lampard underwent surgery on Tuesday and believed that the midfielder would start to train this week. The Italian added that Terry didn’t undergo surgery but spent the last week resting and improving his training.
The defender has already started to train with the squad and the manager was confident that the skipper will feature against West Ham United. Chelsea started the season in an impressive fashion, maintaining a 100% winning record in the Premier League so far.
