Premier League News: Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Aston Villa
ARSENAL
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has expectations from his second choice goalkeeper, Lukasz Fabianski, to prove himself as one of the top goal keepers. The player got off to a shaky start in the Carling Cup match against Tottenham Hotspurs last night, but
still stood his ground as the Gunners dismantled the Spurs 4-1 at White Hart Lane.
The manager believes that the player in true sense is a world class shot stopper who only needs to utilize his talent to find the first team spot. "I believe he has a very strong attitude, very strong response and he works very hard in training, so he has
an opportunity to show his massive talent. I have massive faith in him and I think I have shown this historically - I am convinced he will become a great goalkeeper”, claimed the French manager.
ASTON VILLA
The newly signed former Manchester City winger, Stephen Ireland, has insisted that Aston Villa faithful need to give him some time to adjust to his new employers. The player was part of the deal that saw James Milner move to Manchester City as the side paid
player plus cash for Milner’s services.
Ireland believes that he needs some time to return to his goal-scoring ways at Villa Park, just like he used to be with Manchester City. Both Ireland and Villa were extremely disappointed at their 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers. Bolton were able to come
up from a goal down to clinch a single point while the Republic of Ireland midfielder was well aware that he would need to improve his performance.
Ireland maintains that he still has to hit his best form but is currently struggling to understand Villa’s style of play. The 24-year-old added that he was still finding his feet with the new club while his form was hampered by his hamstring problem. He
hoped to get into the top form by Christmas.
BIRMINGHAM CITY
The Birmingham City striker, James McFadden, is expected to undergo surgery within the next 48 hours in order to repair his knee ligament damage which he experienced in a training session. The club manager, Alex McLeish stated that McFadden would be operated
on his knee in the coming days and his recovery time would be determined afterwards.
The manager believed that the current season would have been a big one for the player as following his successful first season last year he had developed both physically and psychologically. Birmingham managed to score three goals in quick successions to
win by 3-1 in their Carling Cup tie last night against MK Dons, where the newly signed former Arsenal and Barcelona man, Alexander Hleb, scored his first goal for the outfit.
BLACKBURN ROVERS
Blackburn Rovers’ ambitious manager, Sam Allardyce, has confirmed his interest in reaching the top of his managing career. Sam stated that he can never be comfortable with his job as he always looks to improve and his desire for more has always given him
thirst to reach new heights with his outfit.
“Obviously, in the end, that would always be to try and get to the very, very top of the industry that I am working in. I believe in my own ability, that is the bottom line. At the moment it is with Blackburn Rovers, which I am very pleased about”, said
Allardyce.
Rovers have managed to extract 5 points from their opening five fixtures while having faced tough sides like Arsenal. They have also bolstered their squad this summer by adding the Manchester United striker, Mame Biram Diouf on loan, who has already scored
4 times so far in the season.
