Premier League News: Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea
Blackburn Rovers
The management at Blackburn Rovers has confirmed that third choice goalkeeper Jason Brown is expected to stay with Leeds United for yet another month on loan. The player made his first appearance for Leeds since joining the club this summer, where he made
an off the bench appearance when Leeds lost to Ipswich Town 2-1. Kasper Schmeichel was unavailable for the fixture and Leeds manager Simon Grayson thus turned to Brown to fill for the first choice keeper.
Blackpool
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway was shocked by the progress his side has able to make since his arrival. Manager Ian Holloway has expressed his surprise at the level of progress the club have made during his tenure. "I am absolutely gobsmacked with this football
club and how we've made progress," he said. "I am gobsmacked by the boys - the people they are, how hard they are working and how much they care about others, not just themselves. It all bodes well for the future. What we don't want to do is let any outsiders
in who aren't like-minded. And I don't want any fans coming along who expect us to start winning because they are wrong and shouldn't expect,” stated the manager.
Holloway added that their greatest strength is that nobody expects much from the side, which gives them the edge against bigger oppositions. The manager stated that with no expectations, the lads played without fear and always had the backing of the fans.
The supporters also don’t expect that much from them and therefore every touch and pass is cheered to the fullest. Holloway stated that whenever they played under pressure, they lost to sides like Blackburn. However, without any pressure, they were able to
defeat Liverpool, which is the biggest win in the club’s history.
Bolton Wanderers
Bolton striker Kevin Davies was proud of finally getting the England call-up. The player stated that he couldn’t believe when he got the call and had to wait for 10 minutes to get the confirmation. However, when it was confirmed, his wife asked who was on
the phone. Davies replied that it some guy from the FA, calling for his inclusion in the English national side. That’s when Kevin’s wife burst into tears and was very proud of him. The striker claimed that it has been more than half a decade that he has wanted
to hear this news but never got the call-up despite close calls. The forward blamed the number of goal scored to be the major reason behind his inability to feature for the national side but claimed himself to be a big team player.
Chelsea
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes that Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard still has enough skill left in his body to feature for England. The manager believed that Lampard should be featuring alongside Steven Gerrard. Critics have always claimed that
there can never be a team who can play Lampard and Gerrard, owing to the similar style of play of both the attacking midfielders. It was Gerrard who played extremely well for the English side in the recent Euro qualifier against Switzerland and Bulgaria and
Lampard were forced to sit on the side-lines owing to injuries. Owing to the fantastic performance of the side without the services of the 32-year-old midfielder, it was thought that Lampard should be dropped altogether. However, the Tottenham manager wasn’t
happy with the suggestion and stated that the Lampard was one of the best midfielders who scored 20 goals in each season. Lampard has also scored in the World Cup and had that goal been given against Germany, things may have been different.
