Premier League News - Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers Chelsea
Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rover’s manager Sam Allardyce was extremely delighted by his side’s dramatic 2-1 victory during the Lancashire Derby. The Rovers managed to clinch a last gasp victory against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road as the side were given the lead, thanks
to an own goal by Charlie Adam. Blackpool did manage to equalize in the second half but an injury time goal by Brett Emerton broke the hearts of the home crowd and Blackburn Rovers managed to clinch their first victory in these fixtures since 1970.
"You know there is no time for the opposition to come back then. We have got a very valuable three points and are very pleased to get our first away win. You always want to do well against one of your old clubs if you've managed them, but it was a long time
ago. It is great to see them up here. It is a bit of a fairytale for them," stated Sam Allardyce. Sam Allardyce’s win would be a “in your face” taunt to Blackpool, who got rid of Allardyce 14 years ago.
Blackpool
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has claimed that his side’s loss to Blackburn on the weekend was not what they deserved and should’ve gotten at least a draw from their Lancashire rivals. The manager claimed that it has recurring occurred to many managers
when certain outcomes go against expectations. But all one could do as a manager was be to keep on monitoring the teams’ performances. Holloway was delighted by how the lads responded to his call. Holloway was proud of his side giving a tough time to the Rovers,
something even Manchester City failed to do. Yet, it was all down to that impressive goal by Charlie Adams, but in the wrong goal. That own goal cost the side the points but Blackpool managed to regroup in the second half and were amazing towards the end.
Bolton Wanderers
Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has claimed that Johan Elmander is winning the battle from his injury to make it back into the premier league. The striker has hit form this season following his struggle to make a name for himself with Bolton since joining
in 2008. The manager claimed that goals are the most important thing for a striker and if you are not scoring, you aren’t playing. The manager added that although the club did influence the player’s recovery but the biggest influence was his own will power.
Coyle argued that the club can provide the player with knowledge and wisdom but once a player steps into the field, it’s all up to him. Coyle was now convinced that he has now turned the corner and expects more goals from the player in the future.
Chelsea
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that the strength of the midfield in Manchester City was the main reason behind his side’s first premier league loss. Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez’s 60th minute goal was enough to sink
the defending Champions at Eastlands, as their 6 match undefeated streak finally came to a halt. Many state that this was Chelsea’s first match against a real competitive side and for them to lose cheaply means trouble for them against other challenging sides.
In their opening five matches, Chelsea had scored 21 times and conceded just one goal but Manchester City’s quality in the squad proved too much for the men in blue. Chelsea right back Branislav Ivanovic got closest to scoring the goal but hit the post. Apart
from that, City goalkeeper Joe Hart was not threatened and it was almost impossible to go past the quality in City’s midfield. The Chelsea manager stated that as a team, they didn’t perform as expected and couldn’t penetrate the power of City in the midfield.
