Premier League News – Blackpool look for loan stars while Gabriel Agbonlahor aims to impress

Blackpool enjoyed favourable loan terms from many of its loan signings last season, which may have played a huge role in Blackpool reaching the top flight in English Football. The loan signings included Everton full-back Seamus Coleman, Stephen Dobbie from Swansea City and D.J. Campbell from Leicester City

Blackpool is playing top flight football for the first time since 1971, and would want to stay here like all clubs do. Their chances however look bleak as they are yet to make a signing, as they aim to challenge the finest of what England has to offer. It is rumoured that the club is close to signing free agent and Israeli international Dekel Keinan. Ian Holloway, the manager for Blackpool, aimed to bring back those players who came to the club last season on loan, so that he can have the squad with which he qualified for the Premier League.

Reports state that Blackpool is looking for Monaco ace Malaury Martin, who currently is with the club on trial basis. He is however all set to travel with the club in their pre-season tour to Devon.

Holloway stated that the player has played for every French side till U-21 and is an exciting young prospect. He has the potential to develop into a talented player as he just 21.

He added that he will want to bring a minimum of 10 outfield players to Blackpool, if they want to stay in the Premier League. He however confessed that the club may not be ready to play with the big boys, but aimed to fight till the end.

He added that the club may have taken on a challenge which may be bigger than them, but aims to find the comfort zone as soon as possible.

In other news, Gabriel Agbonlahor is to be added to the “new” England squad manager Fabio Capello is aiming to make, after England’s humiliating exit from the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Capello is known to be big admirer of the striker, and Agbonlahor has played under the Italian on numerous occasions. He however failed to make it into the final 23 for the World Cup. The Aston Villa striker therefore aims to up his game to be noticed by the manager again. He impressed last season, scoring 16 goals for his club. He will want to improve this record, if he is to make into the international side.

He stated that he was happy to hear the plans of the England manager, and claimed that it boosted his morale ahead of the new season. He however aimed to prove the manager that he deserves the spot, and vowed not to take the opportunity for granted. He added that he plans to start positively and have a successful season with his club, so that he can make it into the international side. He stated that although he was involved with England’s pre-World Cup campaigns, he could not make it into the final 23. He did not blame the manager though, claiming that it was not an easy job, and he cannot just pick 23.

He added that the players, including himself, who did not make it into the squad have no one but themselves to blame, and need to make a name for themselves by improving their skill if they want to play in the international side. He was aware of the tough competition he would have to face for a spot in England, but intended to be one of them. Agbonlahor has been a consistent performer with Aston Villa and has been improving his goal tally every season. He however plans to surpass his previous goal counter and do more than the usual. He stated that he is determined to get into the squad and wanted to improve this season as he had in the previous ones.
