Premier League News: England - Part 2
A few more news updates from the world of the premier league in England.
Bolton Wanderers: Robbie Blake earned the affection of his beloved supporters when he managed a remarkable equalizing goal against one of his former employees, Birmingham. The forward managed a brilliant free kick from a distance, to register one of the biggest comebacks for the club. With just 9 minutes remaining to the match, Blake produced a brilliant free kick to get a single point for his side. Bolton was two goals behind for most of the match and with 10 men down, there was little hope left.
However, in what was a true Premier league classic, the home side came back and equalized with just minutes remaining on the clock. Blake was delighted to put the ball at the back of the net and claimed that such a performance proves that the club has a great character. Blake added that there are not many teams who come from 2-0 down with 10 men and still manage a point. The forward was thus happy to be at the club and praised the youngsters. Bolton is still undefeated in the opening three fixtures and the player claimed that he’s happy with the manner in which his side has started the new season.
Chelsea: Premier league Champions’ midfielder Michael Essien is keen to help his employers land their first ever UEFA Champions league title this year. The midfielder claimed that as player, he has a gut feeling that something huge is going to happen this season. Essien claimed that he had this feeling last season and they won the double. The Ghanian however claimed that he was sure his side could get the big one this season, specifically the UEFA Champions league.
Essien wanted the trophy to be added to Chelsea’s collection of trophies. The 27 year old claimed that everyone is aware of the importance of the trophy to the club and it’s the only one they are desperate for. Essien added that its natural for them to be hungry for European glory as Chelsea have won every domestic competition. However, this is not to say that the Premier league, the FA Cup or Carling Cup are of less importance and it’s important for them to win every competition they enter season after season.
Everton: Everton Defender Joseph Yobo has completed his season long loan switch to Turkish side Fenerbahce. The deal also includes a clause whereby Fenerbahce has the option to make a permanent transfer next summer. The transfer ended towards the end of Turkish transfer window, when the 29 year old full back passed a medical as well agreed personal terms.
The defender joined Everton back in 2002 from French club Marseille, but hasn’t featured for the Merseyside club this season. The player missed out the recent 1-0 loss to Aston Villa owing to thigh concerns. In his time at Everton, Yobo, who was the first signing of manager David Moyes, has made over 200 premier league appearances.
Fulham: Fulham midfielder Zoltan Gera has agreed that he wasn’t surprised that his future came under discussion towards the end of the summer transfer window. Zoltan is in the final year of his current Fulham contract and has been linked to a move away before the deadline. The player claimed that he heard all the transfer gossip about him and that his “possible departure” topic was not at all suprising.
"But, as usual, I don't care at all about these articles. There were, and there will be, rumours like this in the future too, but I just want to concentrate on football and I want to prepare for the next game.", claimed the unsettled midfielder Zoltan Gera
