Liverpool: Spanish striker Fernando Torres has surfaced some fascinating news regarding his transfers in the market. The player has claimed that his current club Liverpool, rejected a number of bids for the services of the 26 year old. Torres stated that although everyone thought the player would be leaving Liverpool, yet the day he returned to training with his club, he wanted to stay.
Torres added that he has a contract with the Reds until 2013, and target for this year would be to be back in the top four. The Spanish striker continued by stating that everyone at the club wanted to improve and win titles this season and for that to happen, new owners must be instated. Torres has been Liverpool’s most important player over the past seasons as he has scored 73 goals in 120 appearances for the Reds. That’s an impressive record for a player who still has years left in his career.
Manchester City: Manchester City left back Wayne Bridge has been fighting against his injury, trying to get fit in time for the Blackburn game to be played on 11th September. The player has not featured in a single match this season and has been out since before the pre-season. The defender suffered a broken foot and the recovery road has been a painful one for the former England International. The player has confirmed that he never wanted to push himself too hard for fear of causing more issues.
The 30 year old, however, fells confident that he can now put more pressure on the foot. "It has been frustrating because it is one of those where you have to wait in case the fracture gets worse," claimed Wayne Bridge. The left back added that over the past few days, the injury has gotten better and hopes to return to training some time during this week. Bridge claimed that he has been using the bike as well as boxing around and feels fit.
The player thus feels that he can slot in sometime soon and expects training to be easier. Bridge his fighting now to get things right before the Blackburn game, due on 11th September.
Manchester United: United centre back Nemanja Vidic is relishing the Captain band around his arm for Manchester United. The Serbian recently signed a four contract and has since taken over the responsibility from Patrice Evra. Vidic has been chosen over Evra, as he captains the side due to prolonged absence of Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville.
The defender also raised the first trophy as the skipper when United thrashed Chelsea 3-1 in the Community Shield at Wembley. Vidic was still the captain in Saturday’s victory over West Ham, even though veteran Ryan Giggs started the contest. The player claimed that it was a huge achievement for the player and that no one on the planet wouldn’t want to be the captain of Manchester United. Vidic was delighted to be the Captain and claimed that even though it’s a huge responsibility, yet he’s always liked responsibility. The player has never been the one who shys away from it and nothing has changed from that respect.
Newcastle United: Former English international Sol Campbell has revealed that he is in no sort of hurry to make his Newcastle Debut. The player recently featured in the reserves win over Sunderland, as he featured for the first time in a Magpies shirt since his arrival a month ago.
The 35 year old has been working hard to prove his fixtures as he has been without a club contract since his departure from Arsenal back in may. Campbell claimed that reserves games obviously help and although training helps to get back into form, its actually the match minutes which get a player back into the nick of things. Newcastle next take Liverpool in the reserves game and Campbell hopes to play 60-70 minutes in that game.
