Everton
Everton left back Leighton Baines agrees that he still hasn’t given up on the idea of playing in England’s national football side. Following his inclusion in the English side in the friendlies against Egypt and Mexico, the Everton defender was an astonishing
exclusion from the 25 man World Cup squad.
Stephan Warnock was chosen in front of Leighton but the player still refuses to give up. Arsenal youngster Kieran Gibbs has become the new favourite to replace Ashley Cole, if he’s unavailable and both Warnock and Baines have become third and fourth choices
respectively. However, Baines has claimed that he wouldn’t want to be disheartened by the rejections and believes that there is still a lot left to his international career.
“You never know where you are with England. Before I got my first call-up I didn't know if I was close or a million miles away. The past has proved if your form is good every week then you will get looked at. Okay, it didn't work out quite as well as it
could have done but I am only 25 and there is still time,” claimed the 24-year-old former Wigan Athletic man.
Fulham
Chris Baird has recently praised his long stay with the Cottagers, following the player signing a new deal that would keep him with this club till the summer of 2013. The player claimed that he’s delighted to have secured his future at the club and is extremely
happy to stay with such a club. Baird claimed that he really had a good time under Roy Hodgson and now the new manager Mark Hughes also seems to favour this youngster. The player claimed that he was delighted with the tactics of the former Manchester City
manager and was very happy to finally pen a new contract.
Liverpool
Liverpool’s new signing Milan Jovanovic has claimed that he has much more to offer to his new employers than his performances thus far. The Reds are still struggling to find their footings under former Fulham boss Roy Hodgson and following their weekend
frustrations in the 0-0 draw at Birmingham, the club finds itself in the bad half of the premier league table.
The player claimed that he was delighted to see how he played against Birmingham in the league but admitted that he could perform much better. Spanish striker Fernando Torres is still under heavy pressure to prove his true form and class but Jovanovic agrees
that other teammates would have to step up.
The 29-year-old Serbian is yet to break his duck since joining the club from Standard Liege this summer, but expects that such a situation was temporary and would not persist any further. "I am disciplined and trying to build an understanding with the other
players. I am not in the best form and I can play better than I have shown so far. But I know I can score goals and make assists for this team. I am sure I can," claimed the 29-year-old Serbian international
Manchester City
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini would be happy to finally have Nigel de Jong and Gareth Barry back in the heart of midfield for the side’s Europa League encounter against Salzburg on Thursday.
Injured left back Wayne Bridge could also make his much awaited comeback from the broken foot that has ruled him out of the premier league so far. The English International broke his foot while training in the pre-season with the high spending club but would
be expected to play some part in the Europa league match.
