Premier League News - Everton, Fulham, Liverpool
Everton
It was Everton midfielder Seamus Coleman’s second league start when the side managed to put an end to Birmingham’s 12 month undefeated streak at St. Andrews. The player stated that the entire squad finally started working together as a team and their never-give-up-attitude
led the side to finally climb out of the relegation zone.
"All the lads are delighted and relieved to get that first win. Coming to Birmingham there was a bit of pressure to get that first win, but we're pleased to have finally got it. If you look around the changing room there's some top class players in there
and we all know we have the ability to win games and thankfully that happened," stated the 21-year-old.
Fulham
Fulham right back Stephen Kelly was forced to watch the first match of the premier league match on the side lines, following his establishment as a first choice right back under new manager mark Hughes. The Irish midfielder was injured for the fixture owing
to a calf injury while playing against Everton one week earlier, but expects to make a quick return to first team action. Kelly has been instrumental since his instalment as a right back and has been frustrated to see the match from the sidelines.
The player stated that it was frustrated to get injured in the way he did after playing week after week. The player added that although it was a calf tear, it isn’t that serious but when he was reaching for the header, he heard something pop followed by
some excruciating pain. Kelly was therefore frustrated to be losing the right back spot following some good performances. About his recovery, the full back stated that he is progressing well with his injury and feels a lot better. Stephen is expected to resume
full training by the end of this week and expects to be back with the first team by the end of next week.
Liverpool
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson aims to drag the Reds out of the relegation zone and rise in the premier league table in the few months. Hodgson was recently named the Manager of the Year by League of Managers Association in May, but hasn’t been able to turn
things around since his arrival at Liverpool. The manager was recently interviewed by journalists when his side lost to Blackpool at Anfield. On the question about whether he had any doubts on his own ability, the manager replied that it would be harsh to
say that he had lost his ability in three months, pointing towards the manager of the year award in this May.
Hodgson claimed that anyone who has been in this field knows that in football, times change and everyone has their good and bad times. The manager claimed that in May, he was the best, and in September, he is being dubbed as the worst. That’s a drastic change
in opinion of the supporters and it can never be the case that his 35 years of coaching could go down the drain in a flash. Liverpool have managed to pull off just one win this season and have managed just 6 points in a total of 7 fixtures. They currently
sit one point above bottom ranked side West Ham United and Wolves and would have to fight for a real comeback if they are to gain a Champions League spot.
