Premier League News - Giggs the best, according to Wes Brown
Manchester United defender, Wes Brown, has claimed that his team mate Ryan Giggs is perhaps the greatest player he has ever seen. He rates him above legendary players like Diego Maradona and Pele.
Considered to Giggs last year for Manchester United, the winger has proved out to be one of the real greats of the game. He joined the Red Devils back in 1990/91 season, and has never looked back. Giggs is considered to be Sir Alex Ferguson’s favourite, and one of the most talented players of all time. Ryan Giggs has been impressive throughout his twenty year career with United.
When asked from his team mate Wes Brown as to who is his favourite player of all time, the defender claimed that although it may sound unfair and daft, Giggs is the greatest ever. The 30 year old defender added that although there may be other greats like Pele and Maradona, Giggs, for him, has outshone them all, and is the best in his eyes. He praised Giggs ability to play at the top level for all these years, and the fact that he has remained loyal to just one club, is perhaps the biggest achievement for anyone. The Centre back added that there is no one who can be compared to Giggs, with only Sir Bobby Charlton coming near to the level of Giggs.
Giggs is the only player in the history of the English Premier league, who has won 11 Premier League medals and is one of the most decorated players in England’s football history. He also holds the record for playing and scoring in every Premier League season, since its start in 1992.
The left winger was also the first player to collect 2 PFA young player of the year awards in 1992 and 1993, in succession. He is the longest serving player for Manchester United, having made 838 appearances for the club and scoring 156 goals for the side. Giggs role has been pivotal for United, and his experience and know-how of the Premier League is just priceless.
Whenever he comes on for United, wearing the coveted 11 number shirt, the Manchester United fans expect him to give his all. Giggs existence for United has been phenomenal, and there can be no one who can actually replace him. At an age of 36, which is too old for any winger, Giggs shows no signs of aging, and has been consistent. Even when the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo were present at the side, Giggs was seen as taking left foot free kicks, owing to his experience and skills.
Ryan Giggs has admitted that this may be the final season with Manchester United. He has been great in Europe as well, scoring in 11 seasons at the UEFA Champions League. He was elected into the PFA team of the Century and is the only living player of Football League top 100. He was also named into the FA Cup team of the Century.
As a player, he has one very prestigious award available to him. He was inducted into the English Football hall of fame in 2005, as well as, received BBC personality of the year in 2009. He along with Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, make the three indestructible pillars for United for two decades, and has been the mainstay behind Manchester United’s success over the past twenty years. Giggs has won two Champions Leagues, four FA Cups and three League Cups, which is a tremendous achievement for any player.
Ryan Giggs however, is still hungry for more silverware, and vows to win the Premier League for a record 19th time for his side. He looks fit and is relishing to go. Manchester United play their first match against New Castle United, and Giggs would be an obvious first team’s selection, provided he remains fit.
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Giggs, Scholes and Neville will stay at the club, even after their retirements. He expects them to join the coaching staff at Manchester United. Giggs has been a perfect example for youngsters like Fletcher, Gibson and others, who have also been with the Red Devils for most of their careers.
