Premier League News: Poulsen completes Liverpool move, Mascherano needs a change
Italian club Juventus has finally confirmed that Christian Poulsen has completed his transfer to English club Liverpool. The deal is believed to be worth 5.5 million Euros.
Juventus on their official web page said that the deal that was worth 5.475 million Euros to be precise, which will be completed over instalments. Liverpool will make the payment in 2 phases; 2.725 will be paid on the spot while the remaining amount of 2.75 million Euros will be paid by 1st of July in 2011.
The transfer fee however may increase by 1.2 million Euros, but that will be depending on the performance of the player at Anfield.
The Danish player had been speculated to make a switch to Liverpool for a while now. Poulsen was hunted down by Liverpool after Mascherano had expressed his desire to leave the club. However the Argentine is yet to be sold and he is till date a Liverpool player. The Danish player may make his first appearance for Liverpool as early as this weekend in the first match of the season for the Reds against Arsenal.
On the other hand, the troubled Argentinean midfielder, Javier Mascherano has said that he has no obvious problems with Liverpool, but he is seeking a fresh change in his lifestyle.
The former West Ham player had made no secret of his plans to leave Liverpool, while Inter Milan and Barcelona were believed to be his likely destinations. However, still no official news regarding an approach from either club has been reported. Mascherano said that he has no issues with staying at Anfield but he is desperately seeking a new challenge.
The midfielder was talking to media after Argentina’s 1-0 triumph over Ireland. He said that he would like to make it clear that he has nothing against Liverpool, the club supporters or the management.
He said whenever he puts on the red of Liverpool he feels very proud, and has always given it his all. He said there are other things on his mind that prompted him to make plans of leaving the club.
He said that he had a nice talk with the new manager Roy Hodgson, and told him that for a fresh start he just wants to play in a new country and needs a new challenge.
Mascherano said that he has enjoyed every moment with Liverpool, and has got a lot of love and admiration from the fans. He reiterated that he does not have any problems with the club but it is his own decision to try something different.
Meanwhile another big name in English football Chelsea, are once again facing the possibility of a tapping up affair allegation. Brazilian club Santos has said that they are considering filing a complaint to the game’s governing body FIFA, regarding the approach of Chelsea towards their young player Neymar.
According to a British newspaper, Daily Mail, Santos have alleged Chelsea of contacting Neymar just before the international match between Brazil and United States.
The blues have been hunting down Neymar for a while, and have made one offer already to the Brazilian club that was rejected. Santos has maintained that they will not sell the 18 year old for less than 29.6 million pounds. The price is in accordance with a clause in his contract to Santos.
The English champions Chelsea in the past have been handed a ban by UEFA for a controversial deal, when they signed Gael Kakuta from France. Earlier, 2 seasons back when Chelsea were looking to sign Arsenal left back, Ashley Cole they, were charged with tapping up by Arsenal.
