Premier League News Review - Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea
Blackburn Rovers:
The Indian firm, Venky's London Limited have completed their takeover of Blackburn Rovers. In a statement, the club's board confirmed the sale of Jack Walker Trust's 99.9 percent shareholding in the club to the company owned by Rao family of India. Venky's
paid £23m for the shares, according to the statement.
The chairman of Jack Walker Settlement Trustees said, "We are very pleased to be passing on the Rovers to the Rao family. We have been impressed with their enthusiasm for the club and their plans and ideas for future investment to develop it further as well
as their wish and commitment to preserve the legacy of Jack Walker."
A statement from the Premier League read, "The Board of the Premier League has been kept fully informed of developments regarding negotiations between Blackburn Rovers FC and Venky's London Limited over the sale of the club. We can confirm that Blackburn
Rovers has formally notified us of a change of control and that the Board has completed all necessary processes outlined in our Rule Book in order for the sale of the club to proceed."
Blackpool:
Ian Holloway was effusive in his praise for Luke Varney's brilliant strike in the 2-1 win over Wolves. Varney exceptionally took the ball on his chest from a long pass of Ian Evatt and then struck an inch-perfect half-volley which dipped over Wolves' keeper
from 25 yards. The Blackpool manager said that it was a tremendous goal by the player and he expects more such stints from Luke in the future.
Bolton Wanderers:
Wanderers' boss hopes that he'll get the funds needed for new reforms in the winter transfer window as he looks to cement Bolton Wanderers' place in the top six. Owen and his men are in tremendous form so far this season. They are in fifth position, ahead
of some of the division's more illustrious names.
This has been achieved on limited funds and after 13 matches; his side already has more points than his predecessor achieved in 19 years. Owen Coyle feels that he needs to sign three more players in January to cement Bolton’s place for European Cup competition.
Chelsea:
Carlo Ancelotti seems happy with the appointment of Michael Emenalo as the club's new assistant first-team coach. Emenalo has been appointed in place of Ray Wilkins who was released a week ago.
The Blues boss said, "But nothing has changed, for me. Emenalo has been working with me before. He started when I came here last year. He was the opposition scout and was supporting with me. He's not been involved in the training, and won't be, because Paul
Clement has been and will remain doing that. It was not my decision, but he will continue to work with me. Emenalo was a fantastic support last season for the opposition scouting. He was involved in our meetings and will be again in the future."
