Premier League News: Samir Nasri out for a month & James Milner completes the Man City move
There is some bad news for the English premier League club Arsenal early in the new season campaign. The young French Midfielder Samir Nasri has been ruled out for a month following a knee problem. It is quite unfortunate for the midfielder who was left out of the French world cup squad by Raymond Domench and was looking determined to prove his worth yet again. Nasri also missed the early part of last season for Arsenal following an ugly injury when he broke his leg. Nasri started in the first game of the season at Anfield against Liverpool that Arsenal drew 1-1. He suffered an injury to his knee and had to get a minor surgery done soon after.
Cesc Fabregas who has been the man making most of the headlines during the transfer window, was not available for the first match due to an illness.
The problems for Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger do not seem to end. This is just another one in long list on injuries at the Emirates. Defender Alex Song is sidelined due to a calf injury, Brazilian Denilson is also suffering from an abdominal problem and Aaron Ramsey has still not recovered from a broken leg.
Samir Nasri recently played for France in the friendly against Norway before coming back to Arsenal for the Season opener. The young midfielder said it was an unfortunate blow and the timing could not have been worse.
Nasri in his first season for Arsenal made quite an impression. On his debut he scored just four minutes after getting on the pitch. Arsene Wenger tipped him as one for the long haul and also gave him 44 appearances in his very first season.
Last season however was not ideal; during pre season he broke his leg and missed almost the whole season.
Nasri’s latest injury may result in him not being able to take part in Arsenal’s first match in the Champions league, and France’s Euro Qualifiers that would be against Bosnia and Belarus.
The left footer said that he was looking forward to playing some consistent football and as soon as he felt pain in his knew, the nightmare of last season came back to haunt him. He added that the knee problem thankfully is not serious but still does affect the new season.
Meanwhile one of the longest ongoing transfer sagas has finally been put to bed. England midfielder James Milner has completed his move from Aston Villa to Manchester City.
There was immense speculation throughout the summer that Milner was on his was to Manchester City, and finally the transfer is complete. The midfielder signed a 5 year contract that would see him stay at Eastlands by the end of 2015. Stephen Ireland has made his way to Aston Villa as part of the deal.
Milner could make his debut for the blue side of Manchester as early as Monday. Manchester City play Liverpool on Monday in their 2nd game of the season. City played out a goalless draw in their season opener against Tottenham on the opening day.
