Premier League News: United may resign Rossi, Ancelotti says no thanks to Kaka and Joe Cole optimistic about Liverpool
Former English champions Manchester United are believed to be interested in signing their former striker, Giuseppe Rossi from Villarreal. Rossi was part of United for 3 years but could not get a regular starting spot in the team. He was at old Trafford from 2004 to 2007; he only played 5 matches in the first team and scored one goal. Rossi also spent a season on loan to Palermo in the Italian league and was later sold to Villarreal.
The Italian striker had earlier expressed his desire to join the Italian Champions Inter Milan, but United have a better chance of signing him. The contract that Rossi has at Villarreal has the clause that if Manchester United wishes to buy him back, they would have the first choice. However, that would only be in effect if he decides to leave the Yellow Submarine.
According to a British newspaper, Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in signing the American born Striker back to strengthen his attack force. Last season it was Wayne Rooney who had to carry the burden of goal scoring all on his own. He hardly had any support from the rest of the attacking players in the team. Rossi while moving to Villarreal has become a much improved player and has become a regular goal scorer for the Spanish club.
Ferguson is believed to be impressed with how his former player has improved; the United manager may want to exercise the clause of being able to resign the young striker.
Giuseppe Rossi has become one of the most talked about strikers in Spanish football, and is believed to have attracted interest from some of the top clubs in Europe. AC Milan, Inter Milan and Hoffenheim have all expressed their desire to sign the striker.
It would be interesting to see if Ferguson actually goes out and gets back his former Striker, as it is also believed to be not an expensive buy for United. Ferguson however, has generally said that he has what he needs in the squad and does not need to buy any more players during this transfer window.
Meanwhile Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that he has no plans of bringing the Brazilian midfielder Kaka to Chelsea.
Kaka played with distinction under Ancelotti during his days at Ac Milan. There had been reports that Kaka is not happy at Real Madrid and is asking his former manager to come and get him.
It is believed that Real Madrid’s new manager Jose Mourinho does not have Kaka in his plans at Madrid, and is looking to cash in on the player, who is believed to be worth 65 million pounds.
Ancelotti however, has said that Kaka is not coming to Chelsea; the Italian said that he had a good time with Kaka at Milan. Now he is part of Real Madrid and it’s up to him to decide about his future.
Talking about a former Chelsea player, Joe Cole who just made a move to Liverpool after ending his contract at Chelsea has said that he is expecting big things from his new club.
Cole said that Liverpool is about to start a whole new chapter in their history, and he is glad that he would be a part of it. Cole signed for Liverpool following a free transfer since his contract at Chelsea had expired. Cole played his first match against Borussia Monchengladbach. Liverpool lost the friendly but Cole said that he felt very comfortable and at home, playing alongside some of his England team mates. Liverpool starts the season against Arsenal at the Emirates on August 15th.
