Premier League Player Ratings: Arsenal vs Manchester City – Part 2
In part 2 we look at the away team; Manchester City. Although it was a game dominated by Arsenal, some of the City players did stand out and ensured that City came back home with at least a point.
Apart from the ever impressive http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184, did brilliantly to keep Arsenal at bay.
MANCHESTER CITY
Joe Hart: 7.5
By far the best goal keeper in the league this season, Hart was instrumental yet again for Citizens in their effort to get a draw against the Gunners. His goal was the centre of attention in a frenetic first half as Fabregas, van Persie and Walcott, all
hit the post. However, he made one spectacular save from Wilshere’s shot in the first half and later tipped a fierce shot from van Persie over the bar.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Micah-Richards-c25259: 6.5
The big right back did his job reasonably well. He was rarely caught out of position but hardly contributed going forwards. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 will be satisfied with his nights work out.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kolo-c21278 Toure: 7.5
The former Arsenal man enhanced his status amongst Gunner’s fans after his bust up with former Arsenal villain, Emanuel Adebayor. He returned to the starting line-up and showed what City had missed in the previous few games. He put on a resilient display
and was a leader at the back for Manchester City.
Vincent Kompany: 7.0
Apart from one lucky break, when the cross from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 hit his arm, Kompany was as solid as you like. The centre back looked calm and composed and made some vital interceptions. He looked assured with the ball at his feet and formed a formidable partnership
with Toure at the heart of City’s defence.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pablo-Zabaleta-c29022: 6.5
Walcott caused him all sorts of problems earlier in the game but he managed to cope with the speedy winger as the game went on. The versatile Argentinean was deployed on the left side of defence and he did not disappoint. However, he was a touch unlucky
to be sent off in the dying minutes of the match.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-Milner-c17706: 5.5
The energy packed winger did not enjoy the best of nights as he had more defensive responsibilities to cope with, rather than his usual duties higher up the pitch. However, he quietly went about doing his job.
Yaya Toure: 6.0
He had a slow start to the game but got more involved as the game went on. Failed to stamp his authority on the game but held the ball reasonably well, in the middle of the park. The Ivorian played a more defensive role in the second half as City decided
to settle for a draw.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-de-Jong-c27882: 6.5
The all action midfielder made one brilliant tackle on Fabregas to deny him a shot on goal. He failed to get on the ball as much as he would have liked but his energy levels were second to none.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423: 5.0
Never stopped running but was never able to make any sort of an impact on the match either, as Arsenal's slick and quick passing bypassed him for large parts of the match.
Jo: 5.5
The Brazilian was a surprise inclusion in the starting line up ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adam-Johnson-c3537. However, he fulfilled his defensive responsibilities reasonably well, but failed to provide anything going forwards, which was his actual role. He was subbed midway through
the second half.
Carlos Tevez: 6.5
The Manchester City skipper never stopped trying and made a nuisance of himself at every possible opportunity. Almost scored a Van Basten-esque goal early in the match but he had little support from his wide players, especially in the second half.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Adam Johnson: 5.5
The young Englishman failed to make his usual super sub impact after coming on for Jo midway through the second half.
Jerome Boateng: N/A
He was brought on for Carlos Tevez in stoppage time after Zabaleta received his marching orders.
