Premier League Player Ratings: Liverpool 2-2 Everton – Part 1
Liverpool hosted their cross city rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby last Sunday, in a game which marked the return of Kenny Dalglish to the Anfield dugout. In an emotional afternoon for Liverpool, the fans were left disappointed that Liverpool failed
to take all three points.
Everton will be happier of the two sides after coming away with a draw when they could have been two or three goals down by the half time whistle. However, in a more even second half, both teams played some feisty football and the match ended 2-2.
Here are the player ratings for the home side.

The spaniard didn’t do much wrong throughout the game and could have done slightly better for the first goal. However, it was his defenders who let him down yet again.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Kelly-c24395: 6.5
He was almost unconscious when Everton scored their seocnd goal, which annoyed most of the Liverpool players and fans. However, the youngster did not disappoint and once again put in a solid performance.
Martin Skrtel: 5.5
He completely lost Distin for the first goal and was all over the place fo the second one. Skrtel has been Liverpool’s weak link in recent games and although he does look good at times, he has been extremely reckless of late.

A stomach ache prevented him playing in the second half of the match but he was as good as you like in the first period. He had a fairly untroubled first 45 minutes.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Johnson-c15050: 6.5
He seems to be doing better on the left than on the right. Although it hinders his ability of cutting inside and then going out to cross with his right, but he defended solidly and joined up attacks at every opportunity. It was his brilliant cross which
evetually led to Liverpool’s first goal.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678: 6.5
He has been criticised for not scoring goals from midfield but he picked the perfect game to score his first goal in a red shirt. His passing was much more tidy compared to the last few games. His movement was great and he was involved in the game throughout.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jay-Spearing-c18106: 6.5
In the absence of Gerrard and Carragher, Kenny fielded young scouse duo of Kelly and Spearing. Although Kelly has been invloved recently, Spearing was a surprise inclusion to the starting eleven. However, he did not disappoint. His passing was neat and tidy
and kept things simple. Showed plenty of aggression when tackling.

Another mature performance from the Brazilian and he seems to have grown in stature this season. He worked his socks off for the team but failed to hold off the threat from the big Fellaini.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348: 7.5
Absolutely exceptional energy levels were shown by the effervescent Dutchman. He seemed to pop in everywhere and linked up really well with Meireles and in particularly Torres. He played his part in the first goal when he was denied twice by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Howard-c35095 but
he made no mistake from the penalty spot to level the scores.
Maxi Rodriguez: 6.5
Had a decent night out on the left and made some good late runs into the box. Should have scored when he smashed a loose ball over the top of the bar from merely 4 yards out. He won the penalty which led to the equalizer.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707: 7.5
He was well and truly back to his best in the opening period of the first half. A shot on target after 10 seconds was just a sign of things to come. He forced Howard into a couple of saves and also hit the post after shrugging off Distin and skipping past
Heitinga. A relatively quite second half but he fully deserved a goal which unfortunately never came.
SUBSTITUTIONS

He was all over the place when he first came on and before he could settle, the damage was done. He grew as the game went on and won some late headers to keep Everton at bay.

Replaced Meireles 10 minutes from time and yet again looked lively in his little cameo.
