Premier League Predictions: Match Week 16 – Part 3

We have reached the last part of Premier League predictions for this latest round of matches. The interesting news for this match week is that the match between Blackpool and Manchester United has been postponed due to a frozen pitch. Blackpool’s home ground,
Bloomfield Road does not have under-soil heating and although Blackpool hired heated pitch covers, match referee Peter Walton decided that the playing surface was not ready to host a Premier League match.
However, we continue with our predictions for the remaining three matches of the weekend.
West Brom v Newcastle United
West Brom stunned Everton last weekend with a 1-4 score line at the Goodison Park. Although Mikel Arteta saw red, West Brom thoroughly deserved their victory. West Brom have been in torrid form before last week with just 1 point from 5 games, but their win
over Everton will put them in great stead against an exciting Newcastle United side.
Andy Carroll is the man who has got everyone talking about him. He has been a revelation this season and unlike most players who have had an occasional spark, he has been performing consistently throughout this campaign. Newcastle played a physical game
against Chelsea and fully deserved a draw against the champions.
The morale boosting win over Everton will give West Brom the edge but Newcastle have done extremely well on their travels this season. It will be a tightly contested affair, that’s for sure.
Prediction: 2-2

Sunderland v West Ham United
Sunderland have been on a decent run until last week when they were stunned by a brilliant Wolves comeback. With 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats in their last six matches, Sunderland are somewhat of a mix bag. Steve Bruce has got them playing some nice football
and in Asamoah Gyan and Darren Bent they have a strong attacking partnership.
West Ham who were suicidal against Liverpool two weeks ago have turned a corner over the last week or so. They have found the back of the net 7 times in their last two matches and their mid week thrashing of Manchester United by 4 goals to nil will give
them a world of confidence. The return of Scott Parker has coincided with upturn in form and if Victor Obinna can replicate his mid week performance than Sunderland can be in for a long afternoon.
A tough one to call but we now finally believe that West Ham can have a run of few unbeaten games.

Prediction: 1-1
Liverpool v Aston Villa
Liverpool played their best away match since the start of the season and almost got a deserved point against a resurgent Tottenham outfit. Roy Hodgson seems to be getting his message across his players but he still has a long way to go before he can overcome
his ever increasing critics. A win against Villa can only help his and Liverpool’s revival. Anything other than 3 points would take Hodgson one step closer to the exit door. Without Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, Liverpool will look at others stars such
as Torres and Kuyt for inspiration. One player who has blossomed since he replaced Gerrard in the middle of the park, Raul Meireles, will again be looking to impress and help his team get all three points.
Villa looks dangerous on the break with Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Stewart Downing. This is something Liverpool would need to be wary of. Gerard Houllier is expected to receive a warm reception at Anfield but if he can manage to get something out
of this game, he will be more than happy. Two teams, who are not in full form and going downhill, would love to get a result that will up their spirits.
Prediction: 2-1
