We continue with our predictions in Part 2, with four more weekend games included in this part.
Stoke City vs. Blackpool F.C.
Stoke City are now unbeaten in their last 5 games with 3 wins and 2 draws. They have been playing some very good football along the way as well. Stoke are now an experienced team and know how to win games. They are in form and at home, therefore, they are clear favourites for this one.
Blackpool did not play any game last week, so expect them to be a lot fresher and raring to go. However, they have not yet faced a team like Stoke in the league so far, who can give them a different set of problems. Ian Holloway’s men will play their usual style of football, but whether that will be good enough to get a result at the Britannia Stadium, remains to be seen.
Stoke are expected to welcome back Jermaine Pennant and Andy Wilkinson to the starting line up which will give them further boost for their game against the Seasiders.
Prediction: 2-1
West Ham United vs. Manchester City
West Ham United have looked a lot better in recent weeks and even though they lost to Sunderland last week, the shape of the team looks much healthier. The arrival of defensive coach Wally Downes has clearly made an impact and it can only get better with time.
Manchester City will be without their talismanic captain Carlos Tevez, who is suspended for this game. Whoever comes in his place will have to put in a great shift to cover up for the loss of the Argentine. City’s main problem has been their over reliance on Tevez for goals and the likes of David Silva, James Milner and Adam Johnson need to make their contributions as well.
City are now grinding out results pretty impressively and with just 3 points off the top of the table, a win will take them above, both, Chelsea and bitter rivals Manchester United; both of whom don’t play until Sunday and Monday respectively.
Prediction: 0-1
Newcastle United vs. Liverpool
This could be the ideal match for Alan Pardew to kick off his managerial career at Newcastle United. He knows that the supporters are upset at what has happened over the past week and in Liverpool, they are hosting a team who have been pathetic on their travels this season.
Liverpool, with only one away win all season, will be looking to get all three points against the troubled Newcastle United. The morale of the Newcastle players would be down and it will not be easy to motivate them. Liverpool have started to play some really impressive football and if their style of play in the last three games is to go by anything, Liverpool will start as favourites in this one.
Steven Gerrard will again sit out, but Fernando Torres will start against the Magpies. Liverpool do not need to change anything, if they go out and play the way they have been playing it will be an easy 3 points for them.
Prediction: 1-3
Bolton Wanderers vs. Blackburn Rovers
Bolton Wanderers have played some terrific football this season and Owen Coyle has them playing as a unit. Sam Allardyce will return to Reebok stadium with nothing to prove. He took Bolton as far as he could during his time and he is doing a similar job with Blackburn now.
Blackburn have done brilliantly of late with 4 wins from their last 6 games. They are now at 11th spot in the table with a healthy 21 points; however, a 5th win is unlikely as Bolton have been strong at home this season.
The match is sure to provide us with some entertainment. Expect this one to be a feisty affair with both teams having a go at each other.
Prediction: 2-2
