Premier League Predictions: Match Week 21 – Part 2
We continue with our predictions for New Year's day and we have got four more games for you in part 2. We start off at the home of the blue half of Manchester; Eastlands.
Manchester City v Blackpool
Blackpool have been a breath of fresh air this season and their five away wins speak volumes about their approach to the game of football. They go out there to win and going all out is their only formula.
Against Sunderland they gave the opposition plenty of chances, but that is how they play. They create plenty of chances for themselves and hence leave space behind, which provides the opposition with goal scoring opportunities.
Manchester City are a team in form and are always a strong outfit at Eastlands. City are likely to welcome back Carlos Tevez to their starting line up, after the Argentine was rested in their 4-0 thrashing of Villa on Tuesday night.
City will relish the openings Blackpool will provide them, and they do have the fire power to hurt them big time. On the other hand, Blackpool will find it hard to retain possession and play their natural game. Simply put, the quality of Manchester City
players will prevail on New Year’s Day.
Prediction: 3-0
Stoke City v Everton
It will be interesting to see how Everton set up against the Potters. Tim Cahill started as the lone man upfront, but you get the best out of him when he plays behind a front man.
Stoke lost at home to Fulham and they looked a bit shaky in that game. Stoke have recently dropped some points at home, and it would be a good idea to throw in the physically strong and quick Luis Saha, since the opposition are slightly low on confidence.
Everton haven’t lost in their last four matches, but have drawn far too many recently; four out of their last six matches have ended in a stalemate.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Cahill-c35085 will be playing his last game before he leaves for the AFC Asian Cup, and David Moyes will be looking for a win before his problems are enhanced by the departure of their top goal scorer.
These days it’s difficult to predict a result for any game in the premier league, such has been the nature of results this season, but this one seems to have a draw written all over it.
Prediction: 1-1
Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham
Tottenham have been in red hot form of late; they have picked up 17 points from a possible 21 in the premier league. Rafael van der Vaart returned from injury over the Christmas period and his influence was felt straight away, as he scored two goals on Boxing
Day to hand 10-man Spurs all three points.
Teams have come to White Hart Lane and tried to man mark the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 and Van der Vaart. However, these players have too much quality. Add to that the other attacking options at the disposal of manager Harry Redknapp, and this should
be an easy three points for Spurs.
Fulham desperately needed a win after their embarrassing home defeat to West Ham; and that’s what they got against Stoke. However, it will be a tough ask to stop Spurs on their home soil.
Prediction: 2-0
West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers
West Ham were worthy of the draw they had against Everton. They have picked up five points from their last three games, and things have started to look a lot better for the Hammers.
Wolves on the other hand would hopefully have come out of their disbelief, after their 1-0 away win at Anfield. They certainly showed great courage and passion throughout 90 minutes. They way they pressed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 high up the pitch was simply magnificent.
Avram Grant will probably recall Carlton Cole, who was surprisingly rested in midweek. West Ham will believe that they can get all three points at home, which will take them out of the relegation zone for the first time this season.
Similarly http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 will be hoping for a win as well, and for that reason this will end up in a draw.
Prediction: 1-1
