Premier League Predictions: Match Week 22 – Part 2
We continue our predictions for the second round of matches in 2011 here in part 2. We begin this part with our first game of match week 22.
Arsenal v Manchester City
Both these teams were considered outsiders for the league title behind Manchester United and Chelsea. However, both of them have been in terrific form of late and are now very much in the title hunt.
Manchester City made hard work of their win over Blackpool at the weekend. Out of their 22 shots on goal only 3 were on target and had Carlos Tevez scored from the penalty spot or taken any of his chances, things would have been a lot easy for Roberto Mancini’s
men.
City have won 5 of their last 6 premier league matches and if they could make it 6 in 7 then the title race could well be decided between the two Manchester clubs.
Arsenal also have similar hopes, who are only two points behind City but the Gunners also have a game in hand. A win for Arsenal would take them into second place and will give their players real belief.
However, City will be happy with just a point and although Arsenal would prefer to win, a draw will not be considered as a bad result.
Prediction: 1-1
Aston Villa v Sunderland
This is really a tough one to call. One team is on a high after their 3-3 draw away at the home of the champions while the other team has performed consistently over the season.
Villa are at home for this one and the way they clawed their way back into the game to earn a point against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 showed the determination and fight they have in them. This can really kick-start their season and it could be even better if they take 3 points
against a team who have accumulated 30 points already.
Sunderland have some good goal scorers in their ranks with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Welbeck-c10233 all getting themselves on the score sheet in their 3-0 win over Blackburn.
This will be a tight game but we expect Villa to start getting some points and move up the table.
Prediction: 2-1
Bolton Wanderers v Wigan Athletic
Bolton have started to lose a few game now- 4 defeats in their last 6. However, this is because they have played some of the top clubs lately but that hasn’t stopped them from playing positive football.
This will be a chance for them to get back to winning ways and both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Davies-c20716 will fancy their chances against a dodgy Wigan back four.
The Latics haven’t done all that badly recently and have managed to pick up points here and there. Without http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Charles-c8808 N’Zogbia, Wigan do not possess the same threat going forwards and it is hard to see how Wigan can come away with a result from the Reebok stadium.
Prediction: 2-0
Newcastle United v West Ham United
Another win for Alan Pardew will make it 3 in 5 and it will be considered a reasonably good start. They managed to win away against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952, thanks to the solitary strike from Shola Ameobi.
Ameobi will again be handed over the responsibility to lead the attack and provide Newcastle with the goals in the absence of hitman Andy Carroll.
West Ham seems to have turned a corner. They are now unbeaten in their last 4 matches and have picked up 8 points from them. Another win can take them up to 13th in the table and this will be considered as some turn around by the Hammers.
However, Newcastle will start as favourites for this one but without Carroll, they are not the same team. West Ham are high on confidence and will believe that they can take something out of this game.
Prediction: 1-1
