Premier League Predictions: Wednesday 10/11/10 - Part 2
We have completed our predictions for four of the eight games to be played on Wednesday night. Now we look at the remainder of the games, including the big Manchester derby.
Wigan vs. Liverpool:
Liverpool are on a high after beating the champions 2-0 at home on the weekend. That result will mean little, if they fail to beat Wigan at the DW Stadium.
Liverpool have now won 4 games in a row in all competitions and have started to play better football overall. The return of Fernando Torres to form is also a timely boast for Roy Hodgson who will see the next couple of fixtures as winnables.
Wigan, who have lost their last two fixtures and are winless in their last four, would be happy to take a point from this game. Charles N’Zogbia will be their key man who has been linked with Liverpool for a January transfer.
On current form, Liverpool should easily come away with all three points, but when Wigan are involved one can never be certain.
Prediction: 1-3
Everton vs. Bolton:
Everton, after a slow start, are now looking good. They have won 3 and drawn 2 in their last five fixtures. They are a well organised and hard working unit. Tim Cahill and Yakubu will be the usual suspects to get Everton the goals.
Owen Coyle’s men have been a touch unlucky this season but in Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies, they have two of the most in form strikers of the league. They will be confident after their thrilling win over Tottenham Hotspur.
This fixture promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams like to play good football. We believe that having the home advantage might just give Everton the edge in this encounter and they will start as favourites to take all three points.
Prediction: 2-1
Wolves vs. Arsenal:
Wolves are coming towards the end of their horror run of fixtures list. After Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United, its Arsenal this time.
They were unlucky not to take a point for their efforts at Old Trafford, but that performance including the week before against Manchester City will give them confidence going into this game. Mick McCarthy’s team has played really well in the past few games
and they work their socks off throughout the 90 minutes.
Arsenal can only play one brand of football, though it’s pleasing to the eye but it needs to be effective as well. Teams who sit back and soak up the pressure have subsequently done well against the Gunners. The reason for that is simple, Arsenal try to
pass the ball into the net all the time.
Wolves will be aware of that and having kept United at 1-1 for 93 minutes, they will be in confident mood to at least get a point at the Molinuex against Gunners.
Prediction: 1-1
Manchester City vs. Manchester United:
This is by far the biggest Manchester derby ever witnessed before. Last season, we witnessed two cracking derbies; however, there are even bigger players at City compared to last time.
City welcomed back Carlos Tevez against West Brom and he showed how big a player he is for City. Manchester United have a few injury worries, long term absentee Wayne Rooney will miss this derby along with Ryan Giggs, who will be a huge miss.
In form Nani is also 50-50 and Evra and Ferdinand are trying to fully recover from the virus, though both of them are expected to start.
Manchester City seem to do well when it really matters. They rolled over Liverpool 3-0 and beat Chelsea 1-0 as well.
Manchester United have not hit top gear this season and were nearly embarrassed by Wolves at Old Trafford. Expect this to be a tight and feisty contest. We believe City might just be able to knick this one. Thanks to their home advantage and United’s fitness
problems.
Prediction: 2-1
