Premier League Round Up: Arsenal - 7th Jan 2011
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has claimed that his side is still in the Premier League title chase, despite suffering a minor setback when they drew 0-0 against Manchester City. The manager explained that it was the performance
that mattered, not the result.
Wenger was delighted to have kept City on the back foot for the entire 90 minutes and looked towards the positives in the draw.
"However, I take a lot of encouragement even if mathematically we are all frustrated and the players are disappointed. There is no way we should lose courage or belief in our team. We should come out with more belief in our quality
and be more resolute because we have shown we have what it takes to compete in the championship,” stated the Arsenal boss.
The 61-year-old added that the only thing he was disappointed about was that the players did not finish off the early chances, which led to such an outcome of the game. Manchester City have a habit of defending in games they know
they cannot win and that is exactly what they did at the Emirates. Wenger argued that one can do nothing once a team decides to park the bus and was astonished to see striker Carlos Tevez playing so deep in the City half.
The draw has put Arsenal four points behind leaders Manchester United, who managed a second-gear victory over Stoke City at home. United also have a match to play and Wenger still considers his side very much in the title run.
Manchester United have not yet played Champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809), White Hart Lane (Tottenham Hotspur), Stamford Bridge (Chelsea) and Emirates (Arsenal), so the title is everything
but decided. However, United always play better in the second half of the season and are still undefeated in the Premier League. However, many consider the May fixture between Arsenal and United to be the deciding one for the title.
