Premier League Round Up: Blackpool - 11 January 2011
Blackpool midfielder Liam Tomsett was delighted to make his first team debut against Southampton on 8th January 2011 and is now looking to sign a professional contract with the Seasiders.
The player started the fixture along the likes of Keith Southern and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ludovic-Sylvestre-c22626 and he absolutely loves playing for Blackpool. It came as a shock for Tomsett to be playing for the Seasiders, as he found out about it just
on the morning of the fixture. It was funny that only a day ago, Tomsett along with other http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 members, were singing songs for the team in the hotel.
"Me, Adam Mitter and Josh Roberts sang Rock DJ by Robbie Williams and got a few of the lads going. It was a good laugh that was sprung on me, but I enjoyed it actually. It was really nerve-racking at first coming out of the tunnel
but once I got a few touches of the ball my nerves went down," stated the young lad.
Tomsett claimed that first team football is very different to what he was used to. Tomsett had played for Blackpool reserves and the youth side and claimed that the pace of the team was just too quick for his liking. However, now,
he is getting used to it while making more first team opportunities.
“Hopefully I'll carry on training with them and can get a contract at the end of the year," stated the youngster.
Just yesterday, Blackpool lost 2-0 to Southampton, as the home side sung songs about Blackpool not deserving to be in the Premier League. Manager Ian Holloway had a laugh about the matter, stating that they deserved to be in the
top flight and would stay for good. Nonetheless, Blackpool have started the season in emphatic fashion, which includes a legendary win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at Anfield.
