Premier League Round Up - Bolton Wanderers - 13th Jan 2011
BOLTON WANDERERS
Bolton Wanderers http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Davies-c20716 believes that the one week break from the busy schedule has recharged the side and it is now ready to take on Stoke City. Bolton showed impressive resilience against Stoke City recently, where despite being a goal down,
they went on to win the match, thanks to a brilliant brace from Matt Taylor. A similar performance was what Davies demanded from his side, who are currently 7th in the Premier League.
The striker believes that after having made the most of the fixtures in the hectic Christmas period and winning the 3rd round of the FA Cup, a week’s break was exactly what the players needed in order to regain the stamina and heal the wounds.
"The manager stressed that we shouldn't read too much into the York performance", said Davies. "A lot of the lads who started that game have played five games in 12 or 13 days, so it's been a busy period, not only for us but for a lot of the other sides
as well."
Bolton Wanderers had a strong start to the season and are currently just 5 points behind 4th place Tottenham Hotspur. The side is in contention of at least securing a Top 6 finish, which would see them playing in the Europa League. Davies therefore
wanted his players to keep pushing harder and help Bolton achieve a significant place in the Premier League and other competitions this season. However, a trip to the Britannia stadium is never a favourable one as the Potters have always brought their A game
in front of the home crowd. It would take much more than an individual performance from Matt Taylor to escape with all three points against Stoke and the whole team would have to give their 100% against the Potters.
“You know it's going to be a difficult game down at Stoke but we've had some success there before. The lads have had a chance to recover for a couple of days, then it's a chance to come back and do what we've been doing all season," stated the club captain.
