Premier League Round Up: Bolton Wanderers and Chelsea – 3 February 2011
Bolton Wanderers
Bolton Wanderers manager, Owen Coyle has stated that striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Elmander-c18782 was not linked to any club during the January transfer window.
The striker’s future came under speculation owing to his current form and his contract tenure that expires at the end of the current season. Newcastle United wanted to sign Elmander in a last-minute effort to replace the now departed
Andy Carroll, who joined Manchester City for 35 million pounds. However, manager Owen Coyle is not worried about losing the player on a free transfer in the summer and expects him to sign a new contract in the coming weeks.
"I know he wants to play for Bolton Wanderers and we'll continue dialogue. It may be in the summer that Johan wants to see what his options are. I don't have a problem with that because, apart from being a terrific footballer,
he's conscientious and is a great lad,” stated the manager.
The manager added that Bolton had always been straightforward when confronted and are honest about the fact that no bids were made for the striker.
“Whether Johan's agent has then that's something I'm not aware of but, knowing Johan, I think if anything had happened he would've been the first to tell me. I know between now and the end of the season he'll try and do his very,
very best for the football club," added the Bolton Boss.
Chelsea
Chelsea defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 in the January transfer window. Terry stated that signing
these players’ shows the positivity of the club and that Chelsea are ready to spend on players they want, competing with the likes of Manchester City.
The former English http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314 claimed that there is a lot of “buzzing” going around in the camp and the signings would have perhaps shut the critics who were talking about the aging players in the team. Both the players are young
and Terry hopes to have them around for a long period. The defender claimed that everyone in the camp is positive about the future of the club, as both the players are considered the best in their respective positions.
“From a club point of view, reading things like the Bolton quotes that they didn't fear Chelsea no more - we say don't fear us at your peril," stated the Captain.
Chelsea managed a 4-2 victory over Sunderland on Thursday without the services of Luiz or Torres and will now face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the Premier League on the weekend.
