Premier League Round Up - Part 1: News from the premier league clubs
The transfer window finally came to an end yesterday as the sides made some important transfers toward the end. Some high profile players joined the premier league yesterday as a finishing touch to this transfer window.
Let’s have a look at the news from all the premier league clubs.
Arsenal: Italian Giants Juventus have officially signed Arsenal left back Armand Traore on a season long loan. The Frenchmen is one of the rising stars in Arsenal and would now be travelling to Italy for a season long loan. Traore is one of the late signings as the Frenchmen’s loan deal was confirmed only hours before the expiration time of the summer window. A statement from the club stated that Traore would join Juventus as the team looks to strengthen their left flank. The player has made over 58 appearances in the premier league and was loaned out in 08/09 season to Portsmouth. With Arsenal, the player made 12 appearances in all competitions last season.
Aston Villa: Care taker manager of Aston Villa, Kevin MacDonald looks to brace himself for the ups and down of being a manager as he looks to be the replacement of Martin O’ Neill. Long serving manager Martin O’ Neill resigned from the club this summer owing to lack of finances and the club is still without a recognizable manager. Reports suggest that Kevin MacDonald has informed club owner Randy Lerner about his interest to take over the post on a permanent basis, as he has already been in charge for three weeks running and five matches in total as a caretaker manager.
The manager however is well aware of how he can easily be converted from a hero to zero, as the managerial post is always result based. "I know that managers, from week to week, if they win a game they are great. But if they lose a game everybody dissects it”, claimed the care taker manager. The manager went on claiming that he is well aware of how tough the football industry is and every time a club appoints a new manager its always a major decision for any football club. MacDonald claimed that people don’t give managers a chance to prove themselves and declare their fate in a matter of three premier league games.
Birmingham City: Alex Mcleish side has signed Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb on the final day of the transfer window. The player revealed that he rejected offers from the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs to join the Birmingham based club. Hleb claimed that he had offers from Liverpool, Tottenham and Benfica and explored every option. The midfielder claimed that he couldn’t come to terms with any one of them and Birmingham was the only one who wanted the player more than anyone. That was the main reason behind him signing with Birmingham City.
Blackburn Rovers: Rovers and Reading have come to terms over defender Zurab Khizanishvili. The player only just joined Rovers last season and would be travelling back to Madejski Stadium on a season long loan. The 28 year old full back spent four month loan term with Royals last season and suffered only three defeats. Blackburn has also loaned out Alan Judge from Notts County on a loan deal for six months. The U21 youngster has the ability to play in the centre midfield, as well as to feature on the right wing along with full forward.
The player only recently signed a new contract with Rovers, keeping him at Ewood park till 2011. Rovers made a good signing when they signed Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf on a season long loan. The player has provided the team with some important goals, including the only one against Arsenal last weekend.
