Premier League Round Up - Part 4: News from the premier league clubs
The transfer window finally came to an end, as the sides made some important transfers toward the end. Some high profile players joined the premier league yesterday as a finishing touch to this transfer window.
Stoke City: Stoke City striker Ben Marshall is expected to return to Carlisle United for a second season on loan. The 18 year old forward would stay at Brunton Park till 3rd January. The player has made 20 appearances for Cumbrians in the second half of last season, scoring just 3 goals.
The manager, Greg Abbot claimed that he is well aware of the striker’s ability, having tested him at Brunton Park last season. the manager was thus delighted to have him back at the ranks at Carlisle United. The manager went on claiming that the player suits the way the team plays football and having him at the club will give them strength. The manager hailed the player’s focus and concentration and looking forward to working with him again. Greg Abbott claimed that he expects the player to do well overall at the club.
Sunderland: Steve Bruce, manager of Sunderland, has officially confirmed that midfielder Teemu Tainio has left the club. The Finland International’s contract has been terminated by both the consent of player and club. The manager wished the player best of luck for the future and thanked him for his services. The club has also managed to confirm a record 13 million pound deal for Ghanian striker Asamoah Gyan.
The player has made an official switch from Rennes to Sunderland, in what was the biggest transfer on the deadline day. The player was hugely impressive in 2010 FIFA World Cup, where he scored 3 times for the national side. The striker was unfortunate when he couldn’t convert a match turning penalty against Uruguay. Ghana then crashed out of the World Cup in the quarter finals, as they were not able to convert the penalties.
Tottenham Hotspurs: Spurs manager Harry Redknapp expects Dutch playmaker Rafael Van Der Vaart to soon be joining White Hart Lane. The North Londoners made a late swoop for the Real Madrid man, with only minutes remaining for the deadline to expire. There is still wait on the deal to officially take place, as the medical and other complications are still left. The manager therefore expects the deal to completed before 6pm but remains uncertain whether the deal would be completed in time.
Redknapp admits that he’s waiting for good news from Chairman Daniel Levy, as he expects Van Der Vaart to make a huge impact at Spurs. The manager claimed that he would be a good inclusion to already star-studded squad. "It's still dragging on. We are just waiting to see whether it's all gone through. We are waiting for clearance. The chairman is dealing with it and Darren Eales the secretary, there is nothing more I can do now.", claimed Spurs manager Harry Redknapp.
West Bromwich Albion: West Bromwich Albion have reportedly signed Rochdale defender Craig Dawson for an undisclosed fee. The player wont be featuring in the premier league as he would be spending one more year at the League, owing to a loan deal. The young centre half has signed an official 3 year deal and has also been given an option for a fourth one.
Craig Dawson’s last season was his first professional one at Rochdale, after being picked from Non-league Radcliffe Borough in 2009. The played for phenomenal for Dale’s promotion to third tier of football. Being a defender, the player still managed 11 goals. Sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth claimed that he’s delighted to welcome the player back at the club. Dan added that Dawson is an excellent young prospect and has been judged thoroughly last season.
