Premier League Second Half Report: Newcastle vs. Liverpool (Part 2)
Just when it looked like Liverpool were in for a comfortable second half, Barton once again produced a moment of magic as he whipped in a lethal and deadly cross for Andy Carroll to head towards the goal. However the striker despite being
free in front of the goal, couldn't keep his header on target and as a result the scores were still level.
Almost immediately afterwards, Liverpool had a glorious chance via Torres. The striker received the ball and strode towards the Newcastle goal, before cutting to the side and drilling a shot goal wards. The shot had the keeper beaten from
all ends, but also managed to just beat the post by an inch.
With Newcastle struggling Pardew the new manager decided to make a tactical switch as he went on to take of Ameobi and bring on Nile Ranger to replace the player.
The substitution almost proved to be a stroke of genius as Carroll flicked the ball into the path of Ranger and the player left Skrtel for dead as he then went on to flash a shot just wide of the post. However it seemed like the substitution
was just the thing needed by Newcastle making the fans wonder if Pardew actually knew what he was doing, as opposed to what was initially thought of him.
All of a sudden after the substitution, the tide of the game seemed to change once again. Once again it was Newcastle who were on top of things, with Liverpool struggling to even keep the ball for a few moments.
The pressure seemed to be getting so much for Liverpool that Kyrgiakos managed to almost knock the wind out of N'Gog by mistake. The defender caught his team mate with an elbow to the face and the striker was covered in blood and had to
taken off the pitch.
The elbow to the face seemed to have caused a concussion of some sort as Roy Hodgson went on to replace N'Gog with Ryan Babel almost immediately after it.
The substitution, failed to do anything for Liverpool; what the Ranger’s substitution did for Newcastle, as Babel barley even saw the ball after coming onto the pitch.
The match carried on with neither one of the two teams creating any real chance and as a result no team managed to get another goal.
