Premier League Second Half Report – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Chelsea (Part 2)
Tottenham were looking to be far more organized team in the second half therefore Chelsea were finding it close to impossible to break their defence down. However on the fifty fifth minute, Didier Drogba seemed to have had enough of the
nonsense and tried to from strike a long range. The shot was more than just decent and so was the save from Gomes.
On the fifty sixth minute, Tottenham nearly scored an own goal. Palacios headed a ball towards his own goal, in hopes to play a back pass to the keeper. But Gomes had his eye off the ball hence had to make a fine springing catch to prevent
the own goal.
Malouda and Cole seemed to be combining well down the left for Chelsea, but the Frenchman was eventually blocked by Hutton as he tripped the winger. Nonetheless he was incredibly lucky to not get booked for that cynical tackle.
A few minutes later Terry returned the favour as he hacked down Defoe and to everyone's surprise the referee didn't seem to whistle for the foul once again.
However that foul on Defoe was the last bit of action that he was going to see, as he made way for Peter Crouch on the sixtieth minute.
However almost immediately after the substitution it appeared like Bale was instructed to make the switch to the right flank and that's just what he did. He then went on to dribble from the right and take a pop at goal, but his long range
effort was in simple words, quite dreadful and was dragged well wide of the target.
After the Bale effort, it appeared that Lamaprd had gotten his warm ups into extra gear, as he was starting to get more vigorous with his sideline routines. Once again all the signs were pointing in the right direction for Lampard to make
his return to the pitch for Chelsea.
After that poor effort from Bale, he was seen retreating back to the left side of the pitch. However this constant switching of positions by the players just indicated how slow the game had become.
On the sixty fourth minute, Palacious delivered a through ball for Pavlyuchenko, but the striker just couldn't seem to keep the ball in play as his control let him down.
