Premier League Second Half Report – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Chelsea (Part 3)
On the sixty fifth minute, Modric found Hutton, who went on whip a cross in for Crouch, but the towering striker was unlike himself and was unable to keep his header on target.
A minute later it was Bale who whipped in a brilliant cross, but thanks to some fine defending by Ivanovic, the cross was cleared and Chelsea survived another scare at the hands of Tottenham.
Once again however John Terry was spotted to be the furthest player forward for Chelsea.
On the sixty eighth minute Danny Sturridge was brought on to replace Saloman Kalou for Chelsea, in hopes that the young striker could mix things up for the team.
On the sixty ninth minute a ridiculous mix-up between Cech and Ferreira nearly gifted Tottenham a goal, as the ball was gifted to Bale. Bale then went on to cross the ball and find Crouch with his perfect delivery, but the striker couldn't keep his effort
on target once again.
A minute after the miss from Crouch, Chelsea had the equalizing goal. Drogba received a high ball after it was misjudged by Dawson and as Drogba turned to volley the ball straight at Gomes. The keeper then went on to parry the ball over his head and into
the goal. Drogba however didn't celebrate the goal as he felt it was gift, rather than something he created on his own.
Three minutes later Anelka once again tested Gomes from range. This time around the keeper managed to just about hang onto the ball.
On the seventy fourth minute, Essien went into the book for what seemed to be a rather clean tackle on Modric. There was hardly any contact with Modric by Essien, but the referee just seemed to be getting it all wrong on the night.
Despite being carded, Essien and Chelsea were finally back to their dominating ways. The team were on top of things and Tottenham were finding it close to impossible to contain the away team that seemed to have sprung into life all of a sudden. However Tottenham's
problems were soon to escalate as Frank Lamaprd seemed almost set to come on the pitch at any minute.
Just when it looked like Lampard would come on, Chelsea almost got a goal. Drobga flicked on a corner from Malouda and Sturridge was about to tap the ball into the goal, but Assou-Ekotto managed to get a vital touch to deny the away team the goal.
