Premier League Transfer News: Chelsea target Everton’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Fellaini-c24295
Defending champions Chelsea are reportedly targeting http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 midfielder Marouane Fellaini to bring in during the summer transfer window. Chelsea are looking to bring in younger reinforcements after a particularly disappointing season which saw the Blues
suffer their worst slump in over 15 years. Roman Abramovich gave the go ahead to bring in new signings during the January transfer window, which led to the deadline day arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 for an astronomical amount of £75 million.
The Blues are expected to continue their spending spree in the summer transfer window, already being linked to a host of players. The fact that Chelsea are set to offload some older players, with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are looking for replacements. So far Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas and Fellaini have emerged as the top targets for the Blues, who are determined to spend whatever amount required to bring in the targeted players.
Getting Arsenal to agree to sell Cesc Fabregas will not be as easy as convincing Everton to sell off Fellaini, with the Toffees facing serious financial problems. Everton manager David Moyes could be tempted to sell the player if Chelsea make a good enough
offer for him. The player is contracted to the club until the end of the 2013 season and is an important part of the squad. However, Moyes will be well aware that the funds received from his sale could be used to bring in a replacement, or two.
It will be a difficult decision nonetheless; Moyes already had one of his first team players leave during the winter transfer window. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208 left the Toffees to join Tottenham Hotspur which left Moyes in a difficult position since he was unable to
find a suitable replacement in such a short time. Fellaini previously rejected offers from top sides like Read Madrid and Manchester United to join Everton but might be on his way out sooner than later following the financial crisis at the club.
Fellaini has improved drastically since his arrival at Everton in 2008 and has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the English Premier League. He plays a defensive role in midfield and is a big threat in the penalty area with his accurate
headers. He is expected to cost around £20 – 25 million; a price the Blues will have no trouble meeting. It seems likely that Chelsea will be eager to bring in Fellaini as a possible replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Obi-Mikel-c18882, with the player not being up to his best
recently.
