Premier League Transfer Update: Manchester City and Wolfsburg agree to Edin Dzeko fee
In any transfer window, Manchester City with their never ending riches will always create a stir or two and this January, it’s no different.
They already have a squad that is filled with no less than 6 attackers in Milner, Tevez, Silva, Ballotelli, Adebayor and Jo. Yet they are in talks with the Bosnian goal machine Edin Dzeko.
Roberto Mancini cannot even play all these attackers in one game. In fact, it is absolutely absurd as for much of the season he has been criticized for playing 3 defensive midfielders in a game when he has an abundance of attacking riches at his disposal.
Yaya Toure, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423 are a regular feature of the Italian’s side this season and yet he is looking to bring another striker into the team ranks.
Perhaps that is what happens when a coconut lands into a monkey’s hands. A monkey simply won't know what to do with it and same is the case with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 as he does not know what to do with all the money that his club’s owners have.
City are currently tied on points with Manchester United at the top of the English Premier League table but have played two games more. Just in the last month their fortunes have taken a turn as they have won 10 of their last 11 games and now find themselves
challenging for the title.
Challenging for the title was the least that was expected from the Italian’s side when Sheikh Mansour’s consortium took over and spent a fortune into the club, giving the manager an open cheque book to try and bring in whosoever he may like.
City now appear to be the front runners to land the Wolfsburg striker after having agreed a 30 million pound fee for the Bosnian striker.
Dzeko has been one of the leading scorers in the German Bundesliga for the past couple of seasons. He is now almost certain to dazzle the Premier League but the question remains: Will he be able to get enough games in a Manchester City squad that is littered
with attackers and that too of sublime quality?
Dzeko has scored 66 goals in 111 appearances for Wolfsburg and is under contract with his club until 2013 but also has a buyout clause in his contract. 30 million pounds will be enough to trigger that clause.
Confirming that the two clubs have agreed upon the fee, Mancini said, "We have an important game at Arsenal coming up and I will speak about him after that, We've agreed a fee. He's a good player and all the teams in Europe want him."
Steve McLaren, who has been under pressure at the German club after his side has been struggling in the mid table this season, said that he is reluctant to see the striker leave the club but he is helpless given the riches at Manchester City.
"He is a good buy for them. He's a good boy but he needs to work harder now he is in the Premier League than he does at present. But he will adjust no problem. He definitely has something that City miss. He will be ideal for City, especially alongside Carlos
Tevez. That will be a very potent partnership," said McLaren.
For the game against Arsenal, Manchester City will be without David Silva and Mario Ballotelli who are both out nursing a knee injury but Mancini will be hoping that his side will still be able to register a win at the Emirates Stadium and stay in the hunt
for the title.
