Premier League Update: Ajax keeper Maarten Stekelenburg would love to join Manchester United
Dutch shot stopper and Ajax first-choice goal keeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Stekelenburg-c22998 has gone on to state that it would be insane for him to not want to play for Manchester United. At the same time, the player also revealed that he has been presented with a mouth
watering offer from Ajax, which he is putting under serious consideration.
Stekelenburg is the player who went on to replace United’s legendary keeper, Edwin van der Sar as the new number one for Holland and from the looks of it, he might just be set to do the same at Old Trafford.
When talking about the situation at hand and his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Love-c22466 for United, the keeper is reported to have said: “I have received a fantastic offer from Ajax which is under consideration”
“There has been nothing else, zero. Maybe because I have been injured.”
However, he added: “Anybody who does not want to play for Manchester United would be insane.”
At the moment the keeper has only one year left on his current contract with Ajax. Nonetheless, the Dutch champions seem to have presented the player with a decent offer, which he is going to take some time to ponder over.
The player then went on to add: “I wanted to see how things develop,” he said. “Nothing has happened, so I will talk with Ajax.”
“I have had a fantastic time here and I have great respect for the board. I have always been treated very well.
“They have made a fantastic offer, and a second meeting is scheduled. But it has to do with whether anything else might come my way.”
From the looks of it, the only reason for Stekelenburg to not come up with a conclusion regarding his future with Ajax, is because he is waiting to see if United are going to make an approach for him.
The Red Devils are currently in desperate need to land an experienced keeper to replace the soon to retire Van der Sar and the Ajax keeper might prove to be just the player to do that.
According to most experts, a move for Stekelenburg would be a brilliant move on United’s part. This is because Van der Sar could brief the keeper on how things are carried out at the club and having already worked with him with the national team, Van der
Sar could help him become the most competent replacement to his position in between the posts at Old Trafford.
