Premier League Update: Andrei Arshavin on the brink of quitting Arsenal and re-joining Zenit St Petersburg
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrei-Arshavin-c5771 seems to be on the brink of quitting the Gunners and rejoining, Zenit St Petersburg. The Russian assassin is apparently on the brink of  starting to train with his former club once again and this
can only meant that he is certain to make the switch back to Russia, once the transfer window opens.
Following another disappointing season, a host of players were being linked with moves away from the Emirates and it seems like Arshavin might just be the first to do so. Arsene Wenger has admitted to be open to offers for a number of players and it seems
like the rumoured ten million pound bid that Zenit made for Arshavin, has been taken into serious consideration by the French manager.
This time around, Arshavin had a rather slow/off-beat season. In the thirty seven appearances that he made for the Gunners, he managed to score only six goals, which by all means is rather poor for the mercurial forward.
At the moment, the Russian is set to return to return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Armenia-c2842.
Arsenal landed the player for a fee rumoured to be around fifteen million pounds, in February 2009. However, only six months after his departure, Zenit made it clear that they were interested in bringing the player back to Russia.
At the moment, there are a number of clubs apart from Zenit, that are rumoured to also be interested in landing Arshavin and those clubs include the likes of Fenerbahce and Juventus.
However, according to most experts, at the end of the day, the player is going to end up joining whatever team is willing to fork out the most cash for the player.
It seems rather dire for Arsenal to offload a player like Arshavin, but the situation that the Gunners are stuck in, it seems like there is no other route for the team to take.
Wenger has stated that despite having ample money to spend in the summers, he still needed to offload the dead weight around the club, in order to create space for new signings. With Arshavin not getting any younger, it seems only right for the manager to
try and get rid of him for the best possible price, before letting him leave for free.
Nonetheless, it is now going to be a wait till the start of the summer window, to see what the future holds for Arshavin.
