Premier League Update: Gareth Bale's title dreams as relegation battle continues
Tottenham Hotspur’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 has expressed his desire to win the English Premier League this season. The Welshman said that his team can surely grab the domestic crown if they continue to perform well till the season end.
He pointed out that the club’s recent success owes to the players’ will to support each other and battle as a group.
He said, “There’s no reason why we can’t push for the title. I think that Gomes has been outstanding all season. I think as we’ve seen, with 10 men we’re fully confident. We attack teams all the time and we’re up in the mix. Everyone fights for each other
on the pitch. We are all close and get on with each other. That shows on the pitch and that’s why we’re getting results.”
Bale was on the score sheet in Tottenham’s 2-0 home win against Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
Spurs were leading in the match by 1-0 when defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Younes-Kaboul-c37543 received a direct red card. However, Gareth calmed the nerves of the home crowd, when he doubled Tottenham’s lead after making one of his trademark runs down the left flank.
This strike was his 6th in the league and 10th in all competitions this season. The speedy Welsh was quite happy on achieving the double figures for his goal tally and hoped to continue his scoring form.
He added, “It’s nice to get 10 goals in the first half of the season. I didn’t have a target at the start of the season but I just want to keep going and keep plugging away and hopefully I can get a few more.”
Tottenham’s next match is on 1st January, against city-rivals Fulham FC at White Hart Lane. Harry Redknapp will be hopeful of winning the match against the Cottagers, who at the moment, are struggling for their survival in the Premier League.
Fulham are currently at the 18th position and are involved in a relegation battle with West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The west-Londoners have registered 19 points off 19 matches and are level on points with the 17th placed Birmingham City, who scored a hard earned point against Manchester United in midweek.
Interestingly enough, Fulham and Birmingham are also level on goal difference. However, the Blues occupy the 17th place by virtue of having scored a larger number of goals than the Londoners.
