Premier League Update: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 admits that a lot has gone wrong with Arsenal
Arsenal’s Dutch striker Robin Van Persie has gone on to admit that a lot has gone wrong with the Gunners. The player came forth with these comments, following http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429’s two goals to one defeat by Aston Villa this past weekend. Van Persie managed to score his 21st goal of the season in the game, but his effort amounted to nothing more than being a consolation goal at the end of the game. The player has since then gone on to state that Arsenal need to show a lot more consistency if they are to challenge for any title next season.
At the same time, Arsenal now stand the threat of Manchester City overtaking them in the league, which would see the Gunners end the season in fourth spot and hence losing out on their automatic Champions League qualification spot.
When talking about the Gunners following their defeat, Van Persie is quoted to have said: "There were lots of things [which went wrong] - we were not consistent enough. It is difficult to talk about it now"
"It is going to be difficult to finish third, but we still have one game and have to win that to at least give us a chance.”
The player then turned his attention to next season and stated that they needed to come back even stronger than before.
"Next season we have to try [to come back stronger]. Everyone starts from scratch and we have a chance, it is up to us to prove it.", added Van Persie
However, the player admitted that the only reason that the team had been performing half as good as they have been all season, is due to the support that the teams loyal fans have been showing them all season long. The player went on to mention this and stated: "The supporters have been great, every single game they have been supporting us tremendously and I am really proud to be a Gunner with them as our fans."
Having heard those comments from the striker, the fans of the club are probably going to be delighted at first, but are then going to insist that the time for talking is over and the time to deliver is now.
It has been almost the same story with Arsenal over the last six seasons, when they come awfully close to landing silverware of some sort, only to see their title aspirations get thrown down the drain due to their own mistakes.
Should Arsenal manage to go one more season without a trophy, the board would need to step in and take some serious actions to turn things around at the club, since that seems to be the only way the team can step out of the ditch they have managed to fall in.
