Premier League….err Manchester City transfer gossip
Manchester City Stuff
Manchester City are still adamant that they want a clear out first, before they can make big and strange January transfer window signing. The well spoken Adebayor has come out and said that a loan deal has been struck with Juventus and his manager still
refuses to name the unwanted millionaires he wants out of Eastlands.
Well, let's guess who are the players facing the axe?
Are they Wayne Bridge, Santa Cruz, Shaun Wright Phillips and Adebayor? It won’t take a genius to guess that Mr. Mancini.
However, there is a new dimension to the kind of clear out that will take place. Shaun Wright Phillips now needs to find a buyer and will not be loaned out. It is reported that he too had a bust up with his Italian manager.
City have also reignited their interest in Benefica’s David Luiz and they will sign another striker to support Carlos Tevez. And to everyone’s surprise, it's EDEEEEN Dzeko. We now expect him to join City because this rumour is getting boring beyond belief.
We hope the readers will enjoy another rumour associated with one and only Manchester City and this one is actually a surprise. They also want to sign Porto’s Hulk.
‘Manchester City are ready to offer £20million for Porto's Hulk - to ease the burden on Carlos Tevez,’ Daily mirror has reported.
'Hulk, real name Givanildo Vieira de Souza, caught City boss Roberto Mancini's eye with 16 goals in as many games to help Porto to a commanding 10-point lead in the Portuguese league,' the paper read.
There is quite a bit January transfer activity expected at Eastlands but Mancini has made it clear that they need to find a striker to share the goal scoring responsibility with Carlos Tevez, who he believes is being over worked.
Conflicting News
OK, enough of Manchester City but we are not going far away. Few miles away at Old Trafford, a £32m striker is apparently planning a move away from Manchester.
However, Sir Alex has always backed his expensive signing and his agent believes that he has the backing of the manager yet again.
According to his agent “there’s nothing to say. He will stay in Manchester. All the reports of a move are nothing. They are false. He's happy and the club is happy."
The old trick
There is an old trick to increase the sale of your newspaper – a club needs a player in a certain position and then a certain player becomes available due to breakdown in contract talks with his club, and then hey, that club wants to sign this player.
Well, we again witnessed this trick recently when Joan Capdevila’s talks over a new contract with Villarreal apparently broke down.
Now, according to Daily Mirror, Liverpool are on ‘Red Alert’ and will sign the Spaniard on a Bosman in the summer.
Why would Liverpool sign a 32 year old when new owners have emphasised that they are looking to sign younger players? The Daily Mirror had answer to that as well – Joan Capdevila is close friends with Pepe Riena (whose own future has been subject to speculation)
– as if all transfers take place after consultation with Pepe.
Last but not the least; David Bentley is available on loan for £1m. According to an another ‘Daily’, this time ‘Mail’, Steve Bruce is willing to sign the out of favour Spurs winger on loan until the end of the season.
However, it also states that he will face stiff competition from Everton, where David Moyes is also looking to add more width to his side.
There is also a twist to the story. It is understood that Tottenham would prefer a sale of the player rather than a loan deal. But, for that to happen, Sunderland would need to sell first. Either way, Tottenham will be more than pleased to get Bentley of
their wage bill.
