It was all Birmingham in the dying moments of the first half and the side should’ve won a penalty when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marc-Albrighton-c23470 in the penalty box. The referee had a good look at it and was not interested in
giving the spot kick.
In the second half, Birmingham finally found the opening goal of the game. City deserved to find the goal, but needed a lot of luck to do so. Gardner’s embarrassing free kick took two knocks from defenders and players before finding
the feet of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues and the player celebrated it with a lot of zeal.
Following the goal, Villa really started to combine. The side attacked in numbers but it took a good piece of back play from Johnson to take a cross on his chest in order to deny the away strikers a chance to make contact. Birmingham,
however, gained control yet again and made numerous opportunities to really take the game away from the visitors. Goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 managed an astounding save to deny Derbyshire his first goal, while Gardner’s well timed volley couldn’t find the target.
The hosts finally paid the price for not finishing off Villa in the 74rd minute, when lack of defending led to Albrighton’s cross getting inside the box. The ball went straight into the path of Collins, who then managed a cool volley. The ball took a massive
deflection to make Foster go the other way and the ball hit the back of the net.
It was game on after the goal, with the next goal surely curtain call for the conceding side. Downing played an ultimate shot after some impressive play from Agbonlahor and Delfouneso was saved expertly by Foster. This effort was
followed by a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Richard-Dunne-c31070 header cleared off the goal line. Delfouneso hit the bar the third time in the match when his curving shot hit the bar for Foster.
On the other hand, Birmingham were not allowed to enter the six yard box following excellent saves from Collins and Dunne and the final attack of the game was spilled by an embarrassing Nikola Zigic header. The draw takes Birmingham
one point above Aston Villa and the Blues still have to play a game. All in all, a good performance by both teams and it was an exciting match that lived up to its expectations, despite no clear winners between the two.
