Premier League news - Theo Walcott: Gunners back on track
Arsenal’s young prodigy Theo Walcott was extremely pleased with the 3-0 win for the Gunners away from home against West Ham United.
The last two games for Arsenal saw them struggle against teams from lower divisions, as first Leeds held them to a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup tie, and later on in midweek, Ipswich Town took a 1-0 win in the first leg of Carling Cup
semifinal.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made sure that his team made no such mistakes this time around, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 and Samir Nasri, after making their way back in the team, looked in great touch and were back to their fluent best.
West Ham were cut apart in the 13th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 who set up Van Persie, who drilled it home. Later on, it was Van Persie who turned provider and Nasri made it
2-0. Van Persie completed the rout from the spot more than 10 minutes from time to complete the win.
Walcott said that Arsenal have hit their stride, and it would be difficult to stop them when they are in such a dominating mood.
Walcott said that the way his team played against Leeds and Ipswich was not at all their style; he said that he does not mean any disrespect to any of the two teams but Arsenal should be winning those games easily.
He added that maybe it was something to do with the mental approach of his team, but now they seem to have gotten over that and are looking to be back at their best form.
Walcott believes that his team’s barren seasons, which has seen them not win any silverware, has in fact been a rebuilding period, and most of his teammates, including him, have grown into mature players. The youngster strongly
believes that now is the time to turn all that promise into results.
He added that there is immense camaraderie within the team, and that is essential to any team’s success.
"We all get on," he said. "The mood's great, we are enjoying it and are enjoying playing together.
"We do have the odd little row which you need and that happens in every good dressing room. If you don't have that it's not healthy.”
Walcott added that they all learn from each other, and the fact that the same group of players has been together for a while now does give them an edge over other teams. Walcott said that he has a great feeling about this season,
and added that he can sense his first Premier League Trophy at the end of their current campaign.
Many believe the young forward shot himself in the foot when he admitted to have dived to win a penalty against Leeds in the FA Cup tie. Walcott said that he is not at all bothered by what others make of his confession. He went
on to say that he is an honest player, and could not help letting the truth out and added that Leeds team and their manager deserved to know the truth.
Walcott said that his confession does not mean that it was correct to dive, but admitted that it was a mistake that he regrets. However, he added that this has become part of the game and players dive in every game to con the referee.
Theo Walcott, who scored a hat-trick at the start of the season, ended by saying that ever since he joined Arsenal he has heard of his team having potential but the time has come to turn potential into silverware.
