Premier League news; Jenas hoping to stay at Spurs while Redknapp happy with Cudicini’s return
Jeramaine Jenas has failed to get many opportunities in his time at White Hart Lane, and many believe that he is to move to some other club.
The midfielder has played in good clubs like Newcastle United and Nottingham forest, but was unable to leave a mark with the spurs, owing to consistent and frustrating injuries. He stated that he would wish to stay with his current employers, and fight for a regular spot at the club. He added that he was looking forward to play the new season in the top flight and hopes to remain fit and in shape for the season. Only this way could he find a chance to cement a place in starting XI for his team.
English international and Spurs striker Jermain Defoe is happy that his team plays Champions League football this season, after Spurs finished fourth in the league last season. Spurs signed quality players to bid for the Champions League this season, and Defoe is excited with the prospect of finally playing Champions League football.
This is Defoe’s second spell with the Spurs, and happy that he came back, as he finally found form with the Spurs. He stated that he was playing with some great players at Spurs and that is all that he ever wished for. He added that Spurs employ many internationals, which mean everyone has to give their all. Otherwise, the underperforming star could easily be replaced for another quality player. He said he was happy as long as he played with good players, and that has been his stance all his years. Spurs played a pivotal role in Spurs reaching the top four and expects that his team can cope well in the UEFA Champions League. He confirmed that this would be the first time that Tottenham Spurs will ever play in the Europe’s most prestigious competition.
In other news, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp was happy with Italian goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini’s returning in action for the club. Cudicini suffered an accident in November, and therefore couldn’t play after that. It was his first football action since the accident, and is now fully fit and ready to play in the new season. Talking to Spurs official website, Redknapp stated that he was delighted with Carlo’s recovery. He added that it was great to have him back in the squad and that it mean good news for the player as well as the club. He praised Cudicini’s ability and professionalism, and stated that he was an extremely good goalkeeper and an equally delightful person.
"He is a great professional, a terrific goalkeeper and a top guy. He has done fantastic to recover after that horrific accident”, stated the Tottenham Hotspurs manager Harry Redknapp. He hailed the quick recovery he made after the terrifying accident. Cudicini gave his all to recover after the incident, and worked day and night to prove his fitness. His fighting spirit and will power may have played a huge role to put him back in between the sticks, and worked all summer on his fitness, which finally paid off. He was able keep the clean sheet for his side in the pre season friendlies, when his side won 4-0. Jonathan Obika, Danny Rose and Pavlychuenko all scored for the Spurs, with Pavlychenko scoring twice. The Spurs are to play against the top sides in Europe this season, when they play the Champions League. They would therefore want their best players to play the whole season injury free if they are to challenge the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid. Redknapp is vary of the threat, and would be counting on Cudicini’s fitness to stay in the top four in the premier league. They are to play Manchester City in their opening match of the 10/11 season.
