The new Premier League season will commence on the 18th of August, and already analysts and pundits alike are making their top six predictions. The transfer window is still open, and will remain open till the 31st of this month. So
it still remains to see whether any new faces will be joining the English top flight or not.
So far, a number of clubs have been fairly active in the transfer market, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 obviously being the most actively involved in high profile signings and transfers. The West London club will be looking to improve upon their horrific league form last
season and mount a successful Champions League defence.
Current English champions Manchester City have been, to the surprise of many, very much silent on the transfer front. The club has been linked to a number of players, but has not made a major summer signings. However, with a squad like the one they possess,
many would argue that they don’t need any signings.
Manchester United have also missed out on a number of transfer targets, but look ready to challenge the blue half of their city for the English title. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson would have been furious after last season’s debacle, and will be keen on taking the game
to City.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 and Olivier Giroud. Not bad for a
club accused of lacking ambition and direction.
The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Tottenham and Newcastle have undergone major changes with regard to personnel and management. Liverpool have Brendan Rodgers and Tottenham have Andre Villas-Boas to lead them into the season. Newcastle have made a number of signings
themselves as they look to build upon last season’s fifth place finish.
Let’s look at what I think will be the top 4 for next season.
Manchester City
The blue half of Manchester still looks like favourites for the title next season. The club showed they had character and the fight to contend for the title, and they won it in dramatic fashion. With players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184 and Yaya Toure present in the squad, City are formidable and will face off against any opposition with ease. Though at times the squad looked fragile and in disarray, they still managed to hold through and steal the title from right under United’s
noses.
With almost three weeks to go till the transfer window shuts down, expect at least three new faces at the Etihad Stadium. Not that the clubs needs to sign any new players. They have strength in depth, a world class first team and an almost world class bench.
If things don’t go their way, they can always sign someone in the winter transfer window.
City are currently in the market for players such as Swansea City's young starlet http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scott-Sinclair-c32675, which shows a change in the club's policy and a move towards investing in the youth in the long run.
