Italian manager, Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323, celebrated his first year at Eastlands with a hard fought 3 - 1 win over Newcastle United on 26th December, 2010. With a victory over Newcastle United, City has now reached at the second place on Barclays Premier League
point chart. City is two points behind Manchester United with two more matches played.
The 46 year old City boss was quite happy to see Carlos Tevez amongst the goal scorers; his first successful attempt on the net after Carlos withdrew his transfer request. Mancini asserted, “We won a match last on Boxing day, last year we won at Boxing Day.
I really like Boxing Day and we need to gain and improve our game. Only this way can we end up at the top of the Premier League. In my opinion, it’s a good year and I am happy with my maiden year with City.” When asked to summarize his first year at City,
Mancini affirmed that it was an incredible experience and he also declared the Barclays Premier League as the best league of Europe.
Newcastle got off with a poor start whereas City, with a spectacular opening, took up a lead of 2 - 0. Tevez fired the ball in the back of the net in just 72 seconds after the game started. Then 21 year old Andy Carroll, Newcastle striker, scored his 11th
goal of the season, 19 minutes before the final whistle. Tevez, then, summed up the victory with a shot deflected by Coloccini and Enrique.
Roberto Mancini said, “I am very delighted for Carlos as he scored two magnificent goals and I am happy for the players because everyone played extremely well. Newcastle played defensive, although they played long ball for Andy Carroll and he vied for every
ball. Carroll is a good player.”
