Premier Ratings: Sunderland 2-4 Chelsea – Part 1
Buoyed by their business on transfer deadline day, Chelsea travelled to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 was not completed in time for them to be selected for Tuesday night clash against
the Black Cats.
It was a chance for everyone in the starting line-up to put on a performance and convince their manager that they warranty a place in the line-up. Now that Torres has arrived, someone will be sacrificed.
Sunderland looked to complete the double over Chelsea but fell short, thanks to a late assault by the Londoners. Here is how the Sunderland players performed.
SUNDERLAND
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Gordon-c9476: 6.5
He made one grave mistake when he charged down Kalou who was going to be the second best. However, he made up for that error with a series of spectacular saves that kept Sunderland in the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nedum-Onuoha-c27453: 6.5
He failed to repeat his wonderful performance when he scored season’s one of the goals against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. However, he made some vital interceptions but, without a proper holding, midfielder Sunderland’s defence was exposed
far too often.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Titus-Bramble-c35166: 7.0
It’s rare that a defence concedes four goals and their central defender still gets a rating of 7. But that is the case with Sunderland’s captain who put on another brilliant display and, taking the number of chances created, had it not
been for Bramble, it could have been a cricket score line.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anton-Ferdinand-c6260: 5.5
He started the game well but proved again he is error-prone. He played Kalou onside and then was seen in no man’s land on a few occasions. Although he looks good for most parts of the game, he needs to improve his concentration level.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Bardsley-c29900: 7.0
He opened the scoring with a really good strike which set the game up really nicely. However, he found Kalou’s pace and movement a touch too tricky and he allowed him to run into space far too often. However, he looked confident when in
possession.
Ahmed El Mohamady: 6.0
He looked good going forward but wasted many opportunities. His indecisiveness at crucial moments frustrated his teammates. However, he won the free kick which led to Sunderland’s second, but he was also the one who gave away the penalty
when he brought down http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102: 6.5
He looked assured in possession and moved the ball well. However, he failed to cope with movement from Chelsea players, as both Anelka and Lampard seemed to pop up everywhere. However, it was another decent showing from a player destined
to start next season at Old Trafford.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kieran-Richardson-c20946: 7.0
He has stepped in the shows of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Bent-c10358 with quite aplomb as he enjoyed playing just behind the mobile Gyan. He scored a clever free kick and was always involved.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steed-Malbranque-c33957: 6.0
Like most Sunderland players, he started the game really well alongside Henderson in the middle but was often found wanting as the Chelsea midfielders got more involved as the game went on.
Stephane Sessegnon: 7.0
The new singing had an enjoyable night on a personal level. He looked sharp and his movement caused Chelsea defenders many problems. Sunderland fans would have taken plenty of positives from their new man’s performance.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Asamoah-Gyan-c6791: 6.0
It’s never easy to take on Ivanovic and Terry on your own but the Ghanaian did put in a decent shift. He ran the channels and stretched http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at every opportunity. However, he was often devoid of support.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Colback-c17451: N/A
He was introduced late in the game and had little time to put any impression.
Jordan Cook: N/A
He replaced Onuoha late in the final minutes.
