Premier League Gossip – Keane on his way out, Roma to tempt Liverpool, Berbatov given ultimatum
Tottenham’s veteran out of favour striker, Robbie Keane was in the past on numerous occasions linked with a move away from the White Hart Lane to Italy to play for Juventus in hopes of putting an end to the misery that he is suffering
at Tottenham at the moment.
However it seems like there is a new team in contention for the player’s signature. The team that is currently looking to land the player are Vancouver Whitecaps.
It would come as a surprise to most and some might even take this as a joke. However the fact remains the Whitecaps are seriously interested in the former Tottenham captain and are looking to lure him in as their marquee signing.
The Whitecaps are a Canadian based team that will be looking to make their MLS debut in the 2011 season. However what they will guarantee the forward is first team action and that is something which might just see Keane do the unthinkable
and ship out to Canada.
Roma are looking to tempt Liverpool by making a move for Dirk Kuyt. The team is looking to offer Philippe Mexes as part of swap deal to try and help the team with their defensive line.
In the past another Italian team that was looking to bring in the striker was Inter Milan. However the team turned their heads the other way when they were told the player would cost them around twenty million pounds.
However according to a press release Roma are currently in no situation to offer even half as much. On the other hand the former French international is worth far less than Kuyt at the moment and hence the deal is looking rather bleak.
However Kuyt fears that despite him being under contract at Anfield till 2012, he feels that Liverpool might make a move for Montenegro international Mirko Vucinic.
So as it stands the move might have killed itself before really turning into something.
Dimitar Berbatov, the Bulgarian hit man who seems to hold all his goals in for a number of games, before unleashing them has been warned by Alex Ferguson that he has the next six months to prove himself to the team.
The player currently has eighteen months left on his contract at United, but numerous offers have flown in for the player. Berbatov did manage to score an astounding five goals past Blackburn this past weekend in response to the managers
demands, however the inconsistency in the players form has been something of a major concern to the manager and he is looking to try and get the best out of the player.
