Premier league News - Arsenal, Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers
Arsenal
Arsenal managed an emphatic victory against Bolton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium. The team managed to thrashed the visitors 4-1 when a young but extremely talented side at full blooming Bolton Wanderers.
According to manager Arsene Wenger, the new defensive line of the team will continue to improve as Arsenal look to lift the Premier league title this season. Newly signed defender Laurent Koscielny partnered Sebastien Squillaci at the back, replacing regular Thomas Vermaelen, who is out owing to injury. The manager believes that employing these players at the back would only make the team stronger over time.
Tony Adams, Martin Keown and Steve Bould have also developed as big players following successful experiments conducted by Arsene Wenger in the past and the manager believes that he can still develop further players by giving younger players a chance. The French manager claimed that the only thing needed for Arsenal to win the Premier league this season is to be stable at the back.
That is the only challenge and the manager was confident the way the side managed against Bolton and Blackburn is impressive. The manager pointed out that Blackburn drew at City of Manchester Stadium and Bolton is also a very good side. Wenger claimed that Arsenal fared well in defence even though the side did make a mistake. Wenger stated that the team is constantly improving at the moment.
Aston Villa
Newly appointed Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier looks to be in charge of the side in time for the Carling Cup match against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday. The manager would still be assisted by caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald who expected that if all goes according to plan, the Blackburn match will be the first match he would pick a team for. Houllier obviously would be aided by Kevin and expected MacDonald to be with him for that game.
Birmingham City
Manager Alex McLeish was extremely happy with James McFadden’s feat against Liverpool when they managed to hold Reds in a 0-0 draw on Sunday. The manager claimed that he’s really pleased with McFadden as he has managed to silence the critics with a brilliant performance.
Furthermore, McFadden managed to pull back in the midfield when needed to defence. McLeish claimed that both McFadden and Cameron Jerome did fairly well together and it was sheer hard luck that they couldn’t find the back of the net. The manager claimed that both of them were the best as a pair against Liverpool than any other match this season.
Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce believes that Three Lions boss Fabio Capello should try to convince Paul Robinson to come out of international retirement. The manager claimed that Robinson is very comfortable with his form and fitness at the moment. That is evident from his all-round performance for the club.
However the manager claimed that it would be up to Fabio Capello to build bridges and think whether he can talk Paul out of retirement. However, his current form was not seen last season which didn’t got him into the squad last season or in the World Cup.  But his performances last season never got him in the squad or to the World Cup and that is the reason he retired.
